May someone explain the story/summarize what has happened so far? I actually don't get what was going on lol but I still like watching it. I enjoy the atmosphere //

From what I understood, there's this Boogiepop spirit/consciouness that appears and controls a person in order to defend humanity against some kind of threat...

During episodes 1-3 the threat was a manticore (the clone of an alien that came to Earth).

In episode 4 looks like the threat is something called "imaginator", which I think is an entity similar to Boogiepop, but with a different objective.

Overall it has an average meh plot presented in a confusing way to give it a "psychological" vibe I guess...

I've heard a lot of important stuff was cut from the novel for this adaptation. I could have been misinformed, but if that is true then that would be why you are confused.
you're cool

Only up to episode 3, but 4 shouldn't have been confusing at all really.

@BestJo Episode discussion in r/anime. Some guy does them every week I think, haven't been following.

honestly, after watching digibro's video, i realize that this is not really a good way to enter the boogiepop series and i would heavily recommend just reading the books because they cut out a lot of important shit including thematics.
