Idk where you guys read they were actually raped in the Novel, but they weren't. you guys shouldn't put false facts like that, you guys should read. I can't die here; even as that thought ran through his mind, heheard a defeated voice as well; I'll die if I don't move. The dream of becoming an integrity knight and going to meet Alice would disappear forever. His beloved sword would take in the blood of humans and Eugeo will become a villainous criminal. But still, hewas able to help Tiezé and Ronye in the end at least. Raios and Humbert shouldn't be assaulting those girls any further. Hence—evenwithin this terrible crime he had committed, there was a fragment of relief. And Eugeo screamed as well; that was when it happened. With explosions of silver light at his right eye, the eyeball itself popped out from inside with a splattering sensation. His vision degenerated to half of what it was, but Eugeo stillignored it and savagely slid the Blue Rose Sword out of its scabbard. Before it was completely drawn, the blade already carried a blueradiance.Aincrad-style secret move, Horizontal.Perhaps perceiving the single hit that resembled thunder at theedge of his vision, Raios barely dodged below it. His flowing blondehair touched its edge and scattered away. However, Humbert was deeper inside and it was too late beforehe noticed Eugeo's movement(it was too late to react while his eugeo slice his arm deep). The moment he stopped his body that was on the verge of penetrating Ronye and sluggishly turned towardsthe left, his two eyes opened up widely. "hence" on the verge of penetrating while the action happening was eugeo was slicing his arm off before it could even happen. so no they weren't raped in the LN. please read further more . this scene happened in page 137-155 the web novel was long gone removed long ass time ago, there was no telling you guys got mixed up with that ln/wn, unless you read the web novel right before it was removed in 2008 when they light novel officially released in 09, the story was written way before that too, and was still progressing in the volumes... so stop saying stuff without facts, i'm here to ease peoples mind, i guy who has read multiple novels which comprehension of deep vocabulary. i'm sure many of you do too, but before you go out and say shit, try and actually read. |

It's ok it's not like you can tell what is decent or not so it doesn't matter. Wew, kindergarden insults, my poor pride.... Only the best from Sword art online's fanbase XD I can't believe I used to be one of them....my self worth takes a hit looking at people's poor attempts at trying so hard to defend this garbage : "I was one of them...ouch" But the writer admits rape and sexual abuse were the best ways he had of shocking his readers (now viewers) so...idk what people are trying to defend when it comes to the terrible writing this series has really when the truth came straight from the horse's mouth lol Anyways.. I saw this ep's "discussion" already had more comments than usual within this span of time so I'm just here with the popcorn and ish omegalol Fight fight fight Actually, Reki Kawahara explained it today that his reasoning for having these is at the time of writing - 2005 - majority of the light novels he read that inspired him used this trope. Just as the 90s were full of the "edge" characters that were super popular but are seen as laughable now when they show up. That's an explanation for exactly what I just said... At least he's self aware of how shallow and limited his own creativity in his writing is (unlike his fanbase)... I don't think the "he had" was clear enough for people who don't know this anime's an adaptation though so my bad for not going into the details of a horrible excuse ("oh look that's all Reki could do so it's good now reeee") |

While it was certainly over the top, i don't think the scene per se was wrong. It was not out of nowhere, as we were told about how Frenica has to undress and "help" Humbert with his bath. And it's not like people in power never abused those they have power over. Heck, every second movie about the middle ages deals with some noble raping a commoner. On top of that, they mocked Eugeo all the time and wanted to get back at him. What makes me wonder is how it is not a violation of the taboo index. According to the SAO wiki, the taboo index includes taboos related to kissing, stealing, hurting people ("lowering their life"), destroying stuff and so on. Apparently the kissing one is only with respect to kisisng on the lips. Maybe so parents are allowed to kiss their kids foreheads or whatever. Still, did they seriously not do that while doing basically anything else? Stealing is taking away stuff. Could be an apple. Bam, taboo index. But taking away someone's control over his/her life is okay? And they didn't "steal" their swords or cloths (as in, removed them from where the girls put them without their consent)? They didn't damage any of their clothes? Whats with the cloth they used to bind them, and which Humbert used to bind his arm? Where did that come from? And lowering life only refers to bleeding or what? What about blunt force trauma? And can people loose their mind in that world? And they never intended to do anything that would lead to bleeding? Not biting, no hard slap? What about the bonds? If it's too tight, and it constricts blood flow? Still no "lowering of life"? And Eugeo had to fight the taboo index when he wanted to get closer, and lost his eye when he drew his sword. Nothing happend when he, immedatiely afterwards, sliced Humberts arm off - the taboo starts with the intention. So even if rape itself is not in the taboo index, theres a lot of things on the list that should be difficult to avoid when doing so, especially when it's people like Humbert and Raios who like to hurt people. Like it often is the case in real life, it was all about overpowering, humiliation, hurting people (Eugeo mostly). Not about having sex. And then we have the weird case of Alice, barely "crossing" the border with her fingertips, with no intention of doing so, and it's immediately confirmed that she has broken the taboo. So not only are there loop holes in the law as written, each rule is interpreted differently (some as written, some as they might have been intended etc.) or the whole index is interpreted as seen fit. Unless it's explained why this is the case, *THAT* is bad writing. As the taboo index, which is long established in universe, and quite strict, but an invention just for this story is bend, circumvented and ignored just to fit the story, instead of creating an index that fits the intended story in the first place, or working within the self imposed limits. |

The episode did what it intended to do very well. Now that the world is set up and Eugeo can stand against the taboo index, the real story and fights are about to start. My only complaint is that comical depiction of Raios. And yes, this discussion thread is more entertaining than the episode itself. |

LauraBirdie said: You know I was kind of on board with this season, almost forgotten the disgusting "Asada-san!"scene, and they pull something like this. Awful. Also this should not be compared to the Jojo Villain trope killing animals. Those are meant to make the viewer hate the villain but the villains still have some sort of motivation going on OTHER THAN just being an animal killer. The villains in SAO are just terribly shallow. The only "villain" that might have had an interesting motive was the inventor of SAO but they never really explained why he murdered thousands through a video game. But these guys are not the main villains of this arc lol. The main villain will be introduced in the next episodes. The goal of this scene wasn't to necessarily make you hate Raios and Humbert, there's plenty of other scenes for that. The goal of this scene was to show how fucked up the taboo index is. The goal of this scene was also to force Eugeo to break the seal that stopped him from breaking laws. Now, do I think that something other than rape could have been done instead ? Like torture? Maybe. That is another debate that I don't care about. But no this scene wasn't just done to make you hate the villains because these guys are not actually the main villains. Also the main villain isn't a rapey villain. Pretty far from that actually. |

Got to say though that those bastards deserved the treatment that Eugeo and Kirito inflicted upon them. Raping the juniors is a big crime no matter what kind of a substantial and heartless noble you are, but heh who am I to say all this to fictional characters. All in all, the direction leading up to the climax there was spot on and I’m honestly shocked that neither CR nor the Studio censor all that. It’d really give off a nasty feeling if I were to watch this at 12 am for sure. Kirito taking on the noble was an excellent treat and I’m looking forward to seeing what Alice and the Capital has in store for them. I’d be honestly shocked if they get away with this with little no capital punishment. |

zamandzoe said: I'll say this first: If you dislike someone giving their honest opinions on an episode which happen to be negative in tone, don't read this. Once again, SAO creates a somewhat decent idea only to squander it. Was this episode outright bad? No. Was it executed well. On one hand, I suppose it is impressive that SAO bothered to create a buildup with the previous 2 episodes. However, the conclusion to it all in today's episode is lackluster at best. Everything up to Eugeo and his index thing was serviceable. However, once Kirito came in to save the day like always is when it went to shambles. Why bother trying to expand upon Eugeo as a character if Kirito is going to be the solution. The actual "battle" (?) between Kirito and the other noble guy was pretty boring to watch. All they did was stand there with their swords clashed and swing them around a few times. Even then, it felt as if there was no weight behind their actions or speech. When your main character is relatively bland, and your other is interesting but only in comparison, while the side characters are plot points, it makes it hard to care about what's going. The show, at least when it comes to these last few episodes, fails to give a clear direction as to where it's heading. It's not called being unpredictable (purposefully), it's called poor writing. Overall, this episode is a 5/10 while the series thus far is barely a 6/10. While it's yet to be outright bad like previous seasons, it's yet to fix any of it's own problems. For the record, I could care less if you like this show or not. I have no problem either way. This is just my opinion. This was under rated i have to agree that build up for those previous episode was decent but yeah it got ruined again because of the bland MC. |

I gotta say loved this episode (and the delicious tears of the weak and sensitive autistic snowfalkes/npcs/etc (no pun-intended) that are SAO Haters), the audio-visual animation is top-notch (honestly no Anime series comes close so far, no anime movie has come close to topping Ordinal Scale in Audio-Visual quality) albeit a few censoring. The acting was rather emotional and top notch as usual from the Seiyuus. Though the part that caught my attention was the scene where Raios BSOD as a result of contemplating in deciding in the feedback loop within the scope of that scenario; A. Not try to break the "Taboo Index", thus letting his "durability" reach 0 as a result of bleeding. or B. Try to triage the deep wound by using Humbert's "improvised bandage", which will result in harming Humbert's durability and breaking the Taboo Index in trying to save his own skin. But due to the Taboo Index being an overriding directive ingrained into these Fluctlights/A.I., the fluctlights can't break the Taboo Index without an strong external influence (like Kirito being the stimuli/"input-data" in Alice/Eugeo's "training-set") . This also highlight the role Kirito plays as being the "input-data" in the "feedback-loop" of the denizens of the Underworld. From what I observed he (or A.I./Program Raios.exe) got caught in essentially in an infinite loop in contemplating the decisions above, and that resulted in an memory-leak/buffer-overflow/segfault (cause fluctlight-cubes albeit large still have a limited amount of allocated memory/storage-space) thus causing his "death" by "Disconnecting from the Server" and not from Kirito directly killing him by decapitation (Kirito in this case avoided violating "murder" in the Taboo Index. |

neonie said: Pedram said: yes, you can say that, because the story needed something seriously fucked up to make Eugeo snap and break Taboo Index, in Webnovel it was seeing the girls after the assault which made him extremely mad and guilty. but since they plan on not actually doing it, they had to tone it up a bit to make it more dramatic and let people feel Eugeo's rage and reason for breaking the Taboo Index. I have to say tho, The anime was worse than i remember than the novel, coz the novel was like 90% describing Eugeo's thought process and only said a few line like the guy licked her face or touch her feet. there was not so much focus on the assault like in anime. but in the anime you can't just focus the camera on Eugeo the whole time and play his inner monologue and rage without actually showing the girls. so it was more intense. Yes, agreed. I feel like you have to show more than tell in Anime to make it entertaining. If the camera was focused on Eugeo the whole time, just running through his thoughts, that would be a pretty boring was to demonstrate why he was becoming angry. I think they made the right choice with the direction of this episode. But probably it will be a much better for Eugeo character development if monolouge played put while they were being assaulted to convey to convey to the viewers his feelings. |

Honestly, it escalated so quickly and first half of episode was so much painful to watch, i suffered a lot watching that, and the time that Eogeo took to act put me fuckin crazy, i was screaming "Eogeo please kill that bastards, FAST"! And finally he saved the girls! Poor that cute girls, Tiese and Ronie, you are safe now! Raios and Humbert should have been tortured untill death, i would do this myself if i could! But was so satisfying watch Raios dying losing blood! And when their hands and arms flyed away with a large blood trail, they deserve that and even more! That strange head tracking ID appeared again! Their teacher cured Eogeo's eye and even adviced Kirito and Eogeo, didn't expect that! Alice shows up, finaly, but seems to not remember about them! |

FireCrauter said: When Kirito leaves that world, would not he have the mentality / maturity / mind of an older man already? If 3 weeks of reality are 300 years of simulation ... Wait, this would not mean that they would have to take him out of the simulation at least hours after putting it on ... what happens if he dies of old in that world ... or are they immortal in that world? 17 when entering the world. +2 years in the world fluctlight. When he leaves = 17 physically. 19 mentally (for now) Take Aincrad into account my friend |

I wouldn't even be mad if A-1 just stopped producing SAO right here and now and started using the budget for hentai. |

If you want me to have a strong negative reaction you can't start it off that way lol. Anyway, those smug bastards finally got what they deserved, especially Raios (thank god he's dead). The things that happened to Eugeo with his eye, and Raios as he died, were interesting. Finally, Alice has arrived (she looks a lot like Saber from Fate). Realize they are artificial AI, they have a tongue bug xD |

-Aincrad- said: There's nothing I hate more than rape scenes in any movies or animes, they seriously piss me off, so as always I just skipped the entire rape part Although it wasn't an actual rape, I'm glad Eugeo acted in time, before they could've done that Also I'm so glad that piece of sh*t died, but I was hoping Kirito would kill Humbert too He lost an arm at least, he will definitely never disrespect Kirito and Eugeo again I don't like reading or watching about it either. I just focues my attention on the positive as this part was a catalyst to eugeo so he could disobey and probably even free himself from the taboo index they probably could of found a better way but I guess it was to get that kind of response from a guy who has lived his whole life following the index but can't doing anything but watch as two people exploit it and knows the index isn't worth obeying if acts like this are justifiable. |

I'm mad because they did not get raped. I wanted them to be raped (because I heard they were raped the novel). Unfortunately, they have to change that so they don't hurt the feeling of some feminists |
