I’m not saying this season is bad by any stretch but it’s just not really hype , and the action scenes we do get aren’t really that good either . After episode 4 or 5 the season has kinda gone downhill in my opinion . The 10 commandments don’t even feel like huge threats anymore considering Meliodas power level now . They built them up and they got pushed down to being fodder pretty quick and they don’t really feel like compelling Antagonists anymore . I’m also kind of dissatisfied that Arthur hasn’t really done anything or been relevant . With the end of season 1 it felt like he might get alot of shine or atleast be relevant this season but so far he hasn’t really done anything he’s just there , he barely even has any dialogue . Idk maybe it’s just me but this season so far pales In comparison to season 1 , maybe after Escanor shows up the show will begin to pick up in terms of excitement and hype , I am excited for those new characters Arden and Deldrey tho .

ditto. Other than that, the hate is hypocritical, since far worse shounen have been let off the hook by anime fans and been praised as masterpieces, such as Sword Art fucking online.

Your argument assumes everyone that’s a fan of those shows is a hater of this one. For me, I loved the first season of this show and regard it as one of the best and most original anime. This season seems like they got a new writer or the same one had a brain injury. Nothing is original in terms of progression. All events and running gags get drawn out, the ecchi groping being a good example. It’s finny here and there, but now it’s all the fuxking time. Hawks ignorant bravery is chief among these things that need to be fixed.

The funny thing is that the problems you mentioned, and the problems everyone suddenly seems to have with S2 were ALWAYS there since the first season. Which is why I said that the hate (I meant negative criticisms) is hypocritical.

One reason why the weaknesses of the show are coming to the forefront is that when you tell a flawed story in a visual medium like this, the more you tell the more your weaknesses are exposed. I will reiterate that the problems mentioned are inherent to the show, its theme, ideas, and the writing which has been carried forward from the first season.
Other than that, the only reason I enjoyed this season was Escanor. If not for him, I would have dropped the season half-way, because none of the story arcs from the first season were interesting.

I know those issues have been around since the beginning, but they weren’t annoying because it was fresh. Once you do a second season, or any extension of writing, your running gags have to change or it becomes stale.

Among a litany of fuck ups, they made Ban a weak ass character for no reason. They made a bunch of shit completely pointless like the druids and goddesses. The other great issue I have is that of filth under, howser, and the third fucker that got turned into a baby. Who fucking cares? Why did that have to be in there? You’re already focusing on new characters, those had their position in the first season

Yeah, I won't argue with that, cuz I understand what you mean. I agree to some extent. They should have made the second season better.
Apart from Ban, they also watered down Diana, and King. Especially Diana tbh, I really don't like the way the writer treated her arc. Unlike Ban, she is completely useless at this point.

This season is extremely disappointing. Unless I completely forgot season 1, 2 season isn't even remotely close in quality of content.
