Haven't felt post-manga/anime depression in a long while now but this one hit me pretty hard. I was enjoying it a lot but even though that ending was supposed to be happy.. they get married she still never recovered most her memories. Feels like the ending could mostly be remedied if the author at least gave her memories back.. we are somehow supposed to believe that after (presumably) boning her step brother for 7 years without even talking to tsuntsui once, she still decides to suddenly stay with some guy that doesn't even remember. Surely I'm not the only one unsatisfied with this 'happy' ending? -Kind of spoils another production too- Maybe it's just bringing up too much nostalgia from Golden Time, with the whole amnesia thing. |

Because the anime started, I also went and read the whole manga. I totally agree, now I'm fucking depressed and deathly afraid of love in general. If I were Tsutsui and I really fell that hard for her, fuck those 7 years And Ayado didn't even get together with Itou in the end, even though they were ......... I really enjoyed it at the start because MC is a dark, negative otaku, which kind of is pretty much me (just that I'm less extreme than Tsutsui), but that's what multiplied the shock for me at the end. Fuck love. Never going to let myself love anyone. The more happiness you gain, the more you stand to lose. It's like gambling with ever increasing stakes on a single bet - you can never be sure that you won't lose that bet, but if that moment really comes.... then you really lose it all. |

I admit the ending was rushed, but I am happy that they are married in the end anyway. I'm not depressed at all. In fact, I quite liked the ending. The whole time-skip adds a better sense of reality. The only thing I am annoyed about is Itou and Ayado... I didn't mind them being separated, but they didn't even tell us why they were separated. I mean, she even got married and divorced after seven years! Even a little bit of explanation would have helped. Well, from the looks of it Itou and Ayade will stay together so I'm not that bothered. Also @iLolicon. If you liked this in general, give Hibi Chouchou a go. Quite similar to this. |

Still I can't help but be a bit depressed over the main pair. Thanks for the recommendation, can you tell me if the ending any better in Hibi Chouchou though? |

Presumably - I'll specify the ending below In the end she has to go overseas for surgery, and while this happens she loses all memories of the last 2 years of her life (so her entire relationship with Tsun). While visiting Japan again 7 years later her brother tells her that he loves her and wants her to marry him and move back overseas with him since he's been the only one intimate with her ever since her memory loss. She agrees. It doesn't really specify whether she was actually sleeping with her brother or not but it felt implied. In the very end she finds a an odd keepsake and feels like she loved someone more before. She questions her brother about it and he finally gives in and tells her about Tsun. After meeting Tsun again changes her mind and decides to stay with Tsun, even though she still can't remember him properly. |

It wasn't really satisfying though as she forgot the whole romance we read about.. No worries! Still recommenced giving it a read as it was really good until then.. Hopefully the anime release will modify it so that it ends on a better note. |

Why do people think it's a good idea? Or is there such little creativity left in the world that we're defaulting to the lowest common denominator now? |

I don't even wanna subject myself to reading the manga so I'll take your word for that. I personally don't think I've ever seen it used in a series and it not go to shit. I don't know, I'm cynical, I prefer happy romance like Gosick or Toradora. If you're gonna rip my heart out, don't try and bandaid it back in. Either put it back properly or don't try at all. |

About the 7 years in the US. There is nothing that implies she ever was in a relationship with her step brother, because when he's confessing to her she tells him they've been together ever since they were 5 years old, which was the same thing he told her before she even lost her memories, that even if they weren't blood related they were family. She said she would go back though because he (and presumably her family because they were moving back to Japan at the moment) stayed by her side during those 7 years and because she had friends in the US. She doesn't say anything romantic to him, really, it was more of a confession on the step brother's side, and she actually recovers some of her memories from dating Tsutsui at the end, so that part of the ending was perfectly happy. I'll forever be mad about Ayado and Itou though, that was mean and unnecessary. Specially because the last time we saw Ayado was just after they slept together and seemed pretty happy at the time, and then she was simply stopped appearing, even to give support to her friends. It's like the author was mad with her and decided to delete her from the story only to bring her back after a terrible development (considering she was only married for a few months from what we've seen). It's implied the breakup with Itou was bad because the face he makes when she's mentioned and when she appears is pretty sad, and what's more, in the spawn of 7 years she should've finished highschool and gone to college, plus the marriage and divorce so a lot should've happened that went unexplained. It's like author had a grudge. They should've just let them stay together without any drama. |

I hope this manga gets some extra chapters tbh for Ayado and Itou Marriage, I think it was about a year after she comes back and at the end we could see her getting triggered by specific things and remembering bits of past. I'm just trying to think optimistically but she could've gotten back quite a lot of memories if Tsutsui was trying to for that one year. |

There's really nothing that points that she was in relationship with her step-brother during that time. If anything, there are many things pointing against it. He confessed after 7 years during their trip back to Japan, saying they're not blood related, but she didn't see him romantically. The fact he was with her all the time for those 7 years means he didn't let any guy near her though, since he was in love with her all the time and he's quite possessive. With all that in mind it's safe to assume the only time she had sex was with MC before the amnesia. |

You can interpret it however you want, but nowhere is there stated that they were romantically involved before (if anything, his confession and her response makes that point null), nor that they will be in the future. The "live with him" was alternative to living with her parents in Japan, not necessarily in a romantic way. I don't understand why people are so adamant on interpreting things in favor of the worst possible scenario. It's almost as if you actually want to feel bad. Don't fill the gaps with things that weren't said. You can twist almost any manga to your liking (or in this case it would be not-liking I guess?) if you do that. It's a limited medium when it comes to storytelling already, and in this case it has a clearly rushed ending as well. No point in figuring things out too deeply. Just look at how best friend's and otaku girl's relationship was handled. |

What I got was I've been with you since a child and I like you, then she rejects him after seeing the trinket. Which is why she goes back to hikari. Even prior to his confession she sees Hikari and breaks away from her step bro and and tries to reach out to him, which may be the onus as to why he brought hikari to iroha. By the end of it she says she remembers everything. Still not a great ending, but its very good for a shojou manga. |

I just felt that the ending was just confusing? She leaves to America following the surgery, and then comes back 7 years later to see matching bands. I feel that the author is trying too hard to push her to be with the MC even though she doesn't know majority of her memories. Also I didn't like how the MC became a potato after she left, that was really depressing. He even made improvements and had real friends when she was there. Sad that he kinda just died. |

The ending turned this from a pretty good manga to a alright one. First of all it was rushed which is one thing but the use of amnesia is just lazy writing, kinda disappointing to be honest. I mean i found this randomly a couple of weeks ago and i didn't even know that the anime was a thing until i finished reading it and i was enjoying it until the end, oh well. |

I think I'm late to the party but I legit just finished a few hours ago and was crying so bad. Even though it was a happy ending I couldn't get over how sad they were after breaking up. Honestly my heart feels so fcking punctured. I don't know if I'm like dumb but I honestly didn't see this sickness coming because I wrote it off when she said she was lying about the sickness and was just going to the doctor for asthma but I guess it's kinda stupid to have a family doctor just for asthma. I feel like the sickness came out of nowhere and holy shet I'm starting to tear up writing this but like idek what to say. It's just so sad... I'd love to talk to someone about this manga because I feel like that way I'll have a better understanding of it |

They already banged even before Iroha went abroad for surgery. Anyways, Itou had a lot of game at school, much superior in handling women than any of the male characters in the story, and yet we are just made to believe he somehow just fell off with 4 eyes. The 1st meeting of MC and FMC after the surgery was fucking tense af, I thought he'd cockblock himself and push her away again after 7 years that I was prepared to rip his ass to shreds. I wish Iroha had more layers in her character and not just a pretty face, they really had a bland chemistry with the MC that at some point 4 eyes and Itou had more interesting parts at some point. If it wasn't for the encore chapter, I would've rated it a 5 but that last chapter at least cemented their relationship together so 8.5/10. Tsutsun really wasted a lot of time with his gf, god damn if he only knew how to treat her right Iroha would've been a more happier woman. Ideally the best girl is Iroha but Arisa mended did the most for her friends. |

I liked this anime (and manga), it was pretty good tbh, although I think the anime (and even manga) ending could have been better. I think some people had some misconceptions. For example, Iroha was not in a romantic relationship with her step-brother at any point. He wouldn't have told her he loved her when he did back in Japan if he was already in a romantic relationship with her for years, and she didn't say I love you back like she always did and always does with Tsutsui. The only person she was actually ever intimate with was Tsutsui, because nobody else ever understood her. I think the ending could have been better. I don't like how they handled Ito, and while the time skip might have been neat in some ways to see progress for some, it didn't seem right what happened with Ito and and Ayado and it felt like Ito deserved better, and there was no explanation there at all. At least it seemed like they were going to date again at the end. I feel like 7 years was too long of a time skip but that was obviously an intentional decision by the author so I can't fault them too much for that I suppose. I also didn't like how the anime didn't show Iroha as pregnant like she was in the manga, and I didn't like how the manga and anime ending didn't have Iroha and Tsutsui kissing or at least show them smiling when they got married instead it showed them from behind. I think the ending episode could have focused more on Iroha and Tsutsui, it seemed like they needed another whole episode, it almost seemed a bit rushed fitting so much into the last episode. I think that could have been done better IMO. Still, it was a good anime/manga and it could have had a much worse ending and I've definitely seen worse. |
