Lupin as a franchise is purely episodic but in the case of part 5 i would suggest watching part 4 first for some context
It's available on crunchyroll

Most likely. Lupin is generally episodic and the individual parts rarely reference previous ones. But to be safe you'd better wait until it airs to make sure that it doesn't buck the trend and end up being a direct sequel to part four or something.

Though honestly I would recommend you watch Cagliostro first while you're waiting since not only is it a classic film that's easy to watch in one sitting, but it also perfectly familiarizes you with the characters. And since this basically looks to be more of part 4, that'd be a good entry to check out too, being relatively approachable as well at only 26 episodes.

I would say you can start from here. Although unlike the person above, I wouldn't recommend Cagliostro as an entry point into Lupin. The characters are incredibly toned down, and quite different from the rest of the franchise in that iteration.

For anyone who looks at this later on, you should be fine watching this series.

The only thing you might wonder about are the characters, but a quick wiki search or just watching the first Lupin III (only 23 episodes, btw) should give you all you need. You could probably even watch this current Lupin III and the original at the same time if you wanted to.
Still though, you should be able to understand it and get a general idea of the characters pretty easily.
In a very simplified nutshell, you've got:
Lupin III- Master thief, lover of women
Jigen- Good, loyal buddy and partner in crime
Fujiko- Sometimes partner, sometimes love interest, but does her own thing and might betray
Goemon- Former enemy and prideful samurai. Helps out sometimes.
Zenigata- Da big five-oh (Inspector)! Eternal goal is to catch Lupin!

And now, you're pretty much good to go. If you watch some episodes and still feel lost though, watch the first series.
You might miss some references. It's probably fine.

i'm still catching up, however, try the other Lupin series beforehand to get a strong grasp of the characters.

Lupin III: Episode 0: First Contact

Its basically an origin story as they is no definitive one, however, those give u a rough idea of the characters and just watch the tv series part 1,2,3 just find some key episodes.

Lupin the Third, The Woman Called Fujiko Mine is a good alternative take of the characters.

I'm still catching up however part 1,2 and 3 u can skip around however for part 4, woman called Fujiko..... watch all the episodes. It more of those series that ur in for the long game.
