| Welp, the war between the Galactic Empire and the Free Planets Alliance spanning over two centuries has now concluded with the events at the Vermillion stellar region. This volume was relentless when it came to the battles. I enjoyed the whole cat and mouse affair between Yang's fleet and the fodder admirals of the Imperial Navy. Despite being outnumbered, picking them off one by one and using the natural environment (dark holes yeah) was so cleverly done. Reinhard was pissed with the incompetence shown by his subordinates - Wittenfeld remarked they themselves as the most incompetent, not sure I agree with that. Reinhard leaves himself vulnerable to lure Yang out as he doesn't fight battles he has no chance of winning. The meteorite decoy tactic was the PLAY, Reinhard got wrecked despite his ultra-defensive formation. Just like the OVAs, the flagship Brunehild was in their sights but the cease-fire gave an anti-climactic conclusion. The conversation between Yang and Reinhard was nice, but it way too brief for my liking. The only other details that were revealed was the secret plot of the Grand Priest. On the planet of Terra, he who is pulling strings behind the scenes will play a bigger role in the future. |
