Using glue and sawdust as filler is one of one of the oldest and best woodworking tricks I know of. It's rather simple, if you have a joint that has a small (I mean a 64th or less if you have a bigger gap then that you need a new piece) gap then fill it with just a drop of wood glue, rub in a bit so it's no longer wet but tacky and then grab a random orbital sander and sand away the glue. This can leave you with a really nice looking joint and hide plenty of small errors. This particular joint I made has glue being used as filler along every connection between these pieces and you wouldn't even know The only problem with doing this is that some finishes and stains can react badly with certain glues.  |
