I haven't watched any Precure before. At all. All I'm aware of is its existence and how insanely popular is in Japan. I'm planning to go through the whole series one day, but my hands are full at catching up with my backlog already (looking at you, Aikatsu and Pripara!). Is any of the previous series a requirement to start this one or can I go in blind? Thanks for anyone in advance.

you can start with any series, with the exception of Futari: Mx Heart and Gogo!, since those are sequels to Futari and Yes! Precure 5 respectively.
(yes, this means you can start with this series)
You can buy lossless digital music from your favorite Japanese artists on https://ototoy.jp/.
The songs are all DRM-free and you can re-download your purchased albums as you wish.
Show your support to your favorite artist if you can!
ps. if you are looking for Japanese albums, you have to search it in Japanese (not romaji). Just copy and paste the name.

if you intend to watch precure super stars movie and savor it to fullest, you might want to consider watching two previous precures along with Hug tto. As for the TV series, yes there is no requirement as pointed out by DreamingBests. enjoy the series!

@Haou-Judai: thanks, I've already started watching and I'm really into it. I wanted to get into Futari as well, but the quality - not the video, but rather the sound - is holding me back, so I think I'll go with GoPri first, because I've heard good things about it.

I'll also check out Splash Star when I'll have time.

If you find good quality, Futari is definitely my favorite from what I've seen and I recommend it!! Second season isn't that great and not mandatory to watch

Heartcatch like with Go princess and Hugtto is a popular recommendation for a person who started in the franchise, but in my opinion you can check Heartcatch Precure. Also I can understand the catchup because I was also watching Aikatsu and Pripara, I don't watch Kiratto Prichan but looking for the new season of aikatsu.
