Even though this is a cliche event, I still thought Kousuke was gonna get fired for a second.

I see they're still continuing their problems because of their relationship as teacher and student.

Through the entire episode i was kinda annoyed, like such an unnecessary drama. Settie needs to get his act together, he is not hurting just himself but Kou and pretty much everyone around him.

I mean, the guy is madly in love with him, what more can you ask?

That ending felt really sad thou.

I actually don't think it's not unnecessary drama at all. Remember that Masahiro grew up poor with only his prostitute mother to guide and take care of him, of which she did little. Since childhood, he was treated as a mere afterthought by those around him with Kensuke being pretty much his only friend. So it practically goes without saying that his deep-seeded trauma would impact his behavior towards a romantic partner; especially when that partner is, as defined by social norm, someone who is supposed to be respected and looked up to as opposed to one that you treat as an equal. This is why the relationship between Kousuke and Masahiro is intrinsically flawed, and why Setagawa cannot bring himself to think he is worthy of being Kousuke's partner.

I'm pretty sure that this whole arc wasn't even included in the manga and I'm so glad they added it into the anime because it at least adds some level of depth to an otherwise classically dumb fanservice-based BL story. However, that makes it all the more an unfortunate victim of its shortcomings (the key frames, the directing,, running cycles...)

I never thought i'd go back on my words in such a manner, i couldn't agree more with you.

I mean, when you consider all those factors playing in Settie's mind it does make a lot of sense, still i consider him to be a little too childish and wish he were a little bit more straight forward, but then again this wouldn't match so much with his background. I guess this is just my personal preference and just ranting about what things i'd like differently.

And yes this wasn't included, at least not so far, i mean at this point the anime surpassed the manga.

It was so sad. I get the feeling that deep down Setagawa is just really scared of hurting himself. Yes, he is thinking about the whole teacher student plus gay thing logically, but the way he approaches his decisions is rather poorly. I feel like the bar what's-his name-again-guy was purposely testing him or something like that. it felt like his words were purposely trying to push Setagawa farther into the hole he was digging himself. But honestly, Setagawa has too weak of a personality, he doesn't even fight for himself, all he does is put barriers up and accepts things (that he can change if he puts his mind to it).

The manga hasn't even got to this point yet, from the fan translation anyways. I know the manga goes up to chapter 38 (from when I last checked), but all that's translated is up to chapter 8 (& 8.5), so not a lot anyone can say about it being in the manga or not. D: I do know they definitely changed up the beginning, but most of it wasn't too big of a change in my perspective.
Also, the manga isn't about classically dumb fanservice. You don't even really see any nude/sex scenes. xD Pretty much what you see up to episode 8 is what you see in the manga aside from the small changes. Episode 9 and on is new territory.

I've read whats out in the fan translation of the manga (up to chapter 8, and there are 38 chapters in total, plus the first story which is Hitorijime Boyfriend [the first few episodes in the anime]). Unfortunately, this episode (and episodes 9 & 10) have not been translated to read yet. Up to episode 8 is what is available to read (unless you can read Japanese which I unfortunately cannot).

I guess I'm the only one who thought Setagawa was going to commit suicide because I assumed the bartender said that if it were him that he would kill himself. That's how I interpreted it.

I knew it! Kousuke would not be fired. He's promoted as a full-time teacher!

But the struggles though... Settie is anxious about their relationship. Their problem simply shows the issues in our society today - that there is a forbidden love relationship between a student and a teacher. At the same time, same-sex relationship is a taboo in a lot of communities. The LGBT community is not widely accepted by many, though there are still others who are starting to accept LGBTs.

At first, Settie looks like he is going to commit suicide by jumping off the bridge while saying "Thank you for everything" to Kousuke through phone. I'm freaking out due to that scene. >.< But I'm relieved he's not going to do that.

This anime is realistic. I'm happy that the creators do not just make fanservice-based yaoi story.

Oof, it's really hard to like Settie when he's throwing himself one pity party after another. I get being anxious about their relationship, but he doesn't want to hurt Kousuke and his way to not do that is... hurting him? Like what?
The bar dude seems like a jealous ex-boyfriend (of Kousuke) if you ask me. Why would he try to get them to break up every opportunity he's given otherwise?

I always feel so bad for Setagawa. He deserves all the good things. To see him under so much distress & feel so alone, I feel so bad for him. He has had things rough. He deserves happiness. And all Kousuke is bringing him right now is stress & guilt & worry. I just want him to be happy (;´༎ຶٹ༎ຶ`)

Also as someone who has thrown my phone away in a fit of anger/frustration during a fight I didn’t know Setagawa is that dramatic too lol he coulda just hung up. Do not advise doing that lolllollllllll

What’s really crazy about this episode is how Kensuke and Hasekura are trying to “help” Masahiro “realize” his faults but they are in a totally different relationship. Yes, them being in a gay relationship is somewhat taboo? I guess that’s the right word, but that’s the only thing they have that might give them any hiccups. Masahiro and Kousuke are in a totally different relationship tier than them. Major age difference, gay, teacher/student (so hierarchical), poor and rich dynamics, dysfunctional family dynamic for Masahiro, weak vs strong, and the ability to not care what happens if they’re found out. Like I get their friends but they just don’t have the range to understand just what kind of pressure Masahiro is under. He feels all the feels. Good and bad. And unfortunately the bad are winning. And HaseKen get to be at school where no one would really say anything to them about their relationship. It’s more normal for them to be together all the time and to have the freedom to do so. Masahiro and Kousuke don’t have that at all. They relationship teeters on the line at all times, that’s too much stress for someone so young.
