Well the DGM Twitter has officially announced the cancellation of DGM Hallow on DVD. Only reason given that it's cancelled "due to various circumstances"
https://twitter.com/dgrayman_anime/status/836802910524694528?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

I knew something was up when the site changed the Release Date from "TBA" to "Undecided"

I run here to find more news about it, but it's the same thing, hmm... ( '-')
wonder what's behind that "various circumstances" did the anime get negative review or something (coz from my subjective view, it's a fairly good one)

Well back in March 016, a magazine interview with the staff says Hoshino didn't like the last anime, and they had to really prod her before she said yes to them doing Hallow.

Then when it started airing, she got many complaints on her Insta from fans. She finally made a lengthy post saying she appreciates the devotion of fans, to her series, but that she has no real authority over Hallow, even though she supervises a bit.

Then she released 2 very lengthy rants on that terrible Kandallen poster they did, which she felt misrepresented her characters, and those posts resulted in her having to terminate her Instagram account. The poster is shown in this thread, for anyone who is not familiar.

Then it was announced the DVDs were delayed for "Quality Improvement" on the site. Because DVDs were supposed to start being released last Sept. Anyhow, for the longest the release was TBA, now finally cancelled.

Idk how reviews were in Japan. Given all the promos and events they were doing, I assume Hallow was well-received in Japan. But maybe it wasn't. Or he did well enough, but Hoshino wasn't happy and some drama went on backstage there. Or perhaps budget was so low they didn't have the money to improve the DVD quality much from the aired-television version.

They were very vague, and just stated that various circumstances got the release cancelled. So, it wasn't just 1 thing. It was a combination of reasons for the cancellation. Hoshino may be one of them. Budget could be another.

oh my... @silverwolf442 , that's the best reply I could ever get, thank you so much...

I think this kind of thing can only happen due low budget & negative reception---but after reading your reply (and seeing that illustration), that's definitely probably not the only reason (I kinda understand if Hoshino-sensei get upset with it ^^; )

Were fans really complaining about Hallow? Did it change a lot of stuff from the manga or something.

Heard that the manga is always on hiatus? True story? ^^"
I'm gonna buy the first series, means everything before Hallow, anyway. Just to be fair. Damn conscience.
Maybe one day, in the future, Hallow will get a DVD release ... XD

Just to give you an idea, the manga first was weekly, then, since the author got sick and couldn't maintain that pace, it passed to be monthly, then, since the author's condition became worse, the manga had a hiatus of four years (2012-2015) until the author decided to adopt a pace where she publish a chapter in 4 months (which means we only have more or less 3 chapters per year). And the penultimate chapter she published, she only draw 7 pages...

I'm not sure if that is the whole story, but you can get an idea.

Yeah =/
But the health of an author is always more important, so you can't be "mad" about it.
Btw, so many mangaka got sick. Is it just me or...? ôo Hunter x Hunter (don't read it, but you know this anyway), Noragami, Fluttering Feelings (a Manhwa),...
