Im Noticing That Boruto Heredited a Lot of Fighting Habits from his dad like the constant Shadow Clone Spam. The Animation During The Fight Looked really Good. There Were Also Some Potencial Ships that could Sail. Im Rooting For the Purple Haired Girl (I Dont Remember her name) Even Though she is very similar to early Hinata. They Could Also Pair Him With Sarada the Tsun xD.

Eh. Animation quality dropped and everything is just a big copy-paste.. Everyone's kid is exactly like their parents and that purple-haired girl is the new Hinata. Meh. And what's with this Iwabe guy being so strong at such a young age? Shouldn't it take ages to learn to use rock style moves?
Pretty bad tbh. 2/5

When will any long-running anime studios (Toei, Pierrot) learn that you don't drop the animation during fight scenes. Really, I can understand and forgive when it's other scenes, but not the fight scenes. Pierrot, please check your priorities.

The answer for your first question, maybe will be introduced in the future episode, just like the next episode that will tell the story of Metal Lee.

The answer for your second question, I think it is Tenten. But, they're not married officially. You should also look to Metal Lee's eyes, I think they're similar to Tenten's eyes.

he whole "New girls is like Hinata" comparisions are simply wrong . Hinata wasn´t the stock slice of life "please be nice to each other/ student council president girl". Every slice of life Anime has that girl.

Hinata aside from being obviously far more developed had a personality. First she was an outcast then we learned that she was selfless, then motivational.
The only thing purple haired girl has in common with her is that she blushed for the Mc and that she´s indecesive, but not shy because how would she be the class represantative, if she was an introvert like Hinata.

As of now, all the new characters are slice of of life cardboard, while the older generation are mostly clones of their parents. Boruto is getting away from this trope. since the premise was always more akin to Konohamarus and Sarada is like neither of her parents.

Give me a break. You know as well as I do that they just copy-paste both story and characters with tiny variation because they know it works, are lazy and are not willing to take risks. Do you seriously believe that it is a coincidence that this new girl has this particular appearance, is shy and (obviously) will start to like Boruto? Ask yourself the same question after 10 more episodes. I'm calling it, she will be the new Hinata. About Boruto, I don't know what you're talking about. He's not getting away from anything. Another goal and other conditions, yeah, but they pretty much had to do that. It is - to me - still unacceptable that he looks, sounds, acts and talks like Naruto. Don't even get me started on his name. Of course children should have similar appearance to their parents but man, the Naruto universe is ridiculous in this aspect. Yep, Naruto's generation are also cutouts but at least they're first to appear in their story, so if anything it should be their parents one should complain about.

I'd probably be better off not replying to you at all as you're obviously not serious about anything, rating shows 1 to make fans angry... but whatever.

This chapter was interesting. I like the original development so far. Boruto is far more likable than his movie counterpart, although I still don't like his current relationship with his father. Mitsuki wasn't introduced yet, and Sarada is pretty secondary at this moment, even though it's obviously going to change, since she's the deuteragonist.

This Sumire girl resembles Hinata, but I still think there are some key differences, like Hinata being way more shy. But at this point it's impossible to say anything, still too early. It's obvious to me that she'll come to like Boruto, and the shipping war between her and Sarada will begin. I'm already on Sarada's side.

But overall, I just wish we can get to the good part soon, them graduating and starting their teams. Can we get some Boruto-Sarada-Mitsuki going on already?

I really liked this episode. It felt like a classic Naruto episode. Now we got details on how far apart this series is compared to Shippuden. So it was stated that Boruto takes place 10 years after the war, which means that Boruto is no more than 8 years old. 7-8 years old, I guess he is. But the way the animators depict Boruto and the other new gen characters makes them older than they should be.

Anyway...

I really liked this episode. I know the animation was nothing spectacular even with the fight scene but I just enjoyed getting to know all the characters that were introduced, get to know them little by little.

Pretty cool seeing Shino being the sensei for the class. Yes he didn't talk much in Naruto but for anyone who watched the last couple of episodes of Naruto, nice touch.

I'm trying not to be biased because I like Naruto as a series in general and I'm trying no to compare them.

But Boruto has had 2 strong episodes that I have enjoyed.

I did write up some discussion/thoughts rather than impression so if you would like to take a look

Lol to think that Boruto was suspended for two weeks after what happened last time.
But its nice that he still has that confident nature that his father has.
Its nice that Hinata is making sure that Boruto is actually studying though.
The class rep is cute when she tries to approach Boruto though.
Hmm Iwabe sure behaves like a bully.
If anything Denki doesn't lack in courage but skill. Once he has that he will be a good shinobi.

Given that Boruto is the son of the hero of the war and seventh hokage its normal that people will see him differently.
Iwabe isn't an easy opponent and he does have some skill as well.
Given at this point Sarada doesn't know Boruto i think this takes place before Boruto the move then. And its not just Boruto who can use substitutes as well too. But man that fight. Boruto's careful use of tactics and the fact that he stayed calm was what enabled this victory. Its nice that Boruto also had the conviction he needed as well for that fight. Iwabe sure has ambitions but he's going the wrong way if strength is what he thinks is the only thing needed. Its nice that Inojin is helping in this fight. Its nice that after the fight Boruto has at last gained the respect of the class as well. Im glad that things in the class are much better now. Love the ending theme as well.

I am perfectly aware of this and this is pretty much the reason I gave the Manga a 1/10. I personally consider it a piece of shit for this specific reason. However the Anime isn´t far enough to make that judgement yet. On the topic of recycled characters. That is certainly true with alot of the off spring. Nonethleless even among them there are exceptions. Chocho and Sarada being the most prominent examples. I also pointed out that Boruto although being bratty in nature has a different motivation for his behaviour, that is more similar to Konohamaru than Naruto. Regardless of the concept of having the main character be a brash, loud, noisy kid. This specificaly is the reason people hate Boruto. Naruto had a sympathetic reason for his behaviour in the minds of most fans. Boruto doesn´t. Or at least comes off as mundane in comparision.

I do agree that the decisions for design and "shy" personality were deliberate for the sake of nostalgia "member Star Wars oh oh I member". However I also think that the author is even lazier in regards to her character or for that matter all newly introduced characters. Because as I pointed out, she´s a stockcharacter. I also think that she´ll be amongst the characters that´ll dissipate out of the story once Boruto graduates. Remmeber the episode Naruto and Sasuke kissed? You know how there were several girls and boys in his class we never saw again? Sasukes fangirls and the guy who knocked Naruto into Sasuke. All those characters graduated, but didn´t pass the first or second test in the chunin exams and we never saw them again. Those characters probably will meet the same fates, including Denki. He may at least get some career in his fathers business confirmed and get a cameo in the future or something.

That´s like saying Gohan is the same as Goku. They have a similar name, similar looks aside from the haicut and similar eating habbits. Though Gohan unlike his father is smart, competent outside of fighting, sensitive, calm, shy... the list goes on. The same applies to Boruto albeit to a lesser extend regarldess of how stupid that name is. It´s the fine nuances that discern the characters. Like Naruto faking his tough attitud,e to hide his insecurities and pain. Where as Boruto comes off as legitimately arrogant. Which again by comparison, makes him into an unlikeable prick.

Putting Boruto on the same boat as Naruto is like saying Deku or Luffy are the same as Naruto or Goku. All of those characters definately are inspired by their predecessors, but always their own personalities.

The cast of Naruto is 17 years old by now. They could be considered retro at this point and they popularized alot of the tropes you would deem cutouts today, within their demographic. The only definition that would make them cutouts would be the one that regards everything as cardboard because it has been written in the past once. The reason those characters reached the peak of popularity and not other competitors has good reason. They were well executed archetypes. The same way Dragon Ball revolutionionized the teenage protagonist in Shounen, One Piece and Naruto popularized the endgoal ambition for the main character every popular Shounen replicates today.

Ps: The little trolling I do on the side is no indicator for my debating capabilities.

Nice ED song...wonder when Mitsuki's gonna make an appearance??

Poor Iwabe was just born in the wrong era- he's strong enough to graduate, but lacks the academic abilities to do so...unlucky enough for him, it study is now an important part of the curriculum.

At least Boruto's not being ostracized and got popular straight away! He seems pretty different to his dad in that respect. I find it hilarious how so many people think Naruto is cool- boy if only they saw his early days XD

Animation dipped in quality this episode, but I prolly wouldn't have been bothered if last ep's didn't look so smooth. Judging by the preview though, it looks good again next week!

Seems you can't be a nice girl in this Anime without people calling you Hinata 2.0. You'd think this archetype was rare by how people treat Sumire, not an extremely common one.

In any case, a good ep. Iwabe's state is especially fun when one considers that by these standards Naruto would have likely never became a genin... or at least would need a year or two more, if he calmed down enough to open a book and study.
Though I don't think we have seen the last of Iwabe. As some said, he is experienced and one wonders how that came to be in this Era of Peace.

You're literally comparing a character who had hundreds of chapters/episodes to develop with a character who was just introduced. When she was just introduced, Hinata had less character and presence than Sumire does in here.

I'm not sure if they are 7 years old. There may have been some minor war between the Great war and Age of Peace or, even more likely, the "10 years ago" is just a rounded a number made by kids too lazy to remember the exact one.

But even so they do look older than they are, but that's intentional case of Artistic Interpretation. Making chibis main characters is one way to make your show into a commercial failure... or at least catching the wrong demographic.

I don't think they will address her anytime soon because she doesn't seem related to any of the original cast. At least Metal Lee is at least related to Rock Lee.

I'd be very disappointed if TenTen is Metal Lee's mother. It doesn't feel like a tenten thing to do.

You do know, that you try to advocate, the superior appeal, of a character, that had around 5 lines of dialogue and a single episode of screentime? Against a character that had a few minor character arcs dedicated to her specifically, (I´m only counting the canon material here). Has relationships with 6 noteworthy characters within the story. Of whom two are the protagonists of the original story and the current story and has over 30 years of in universe life experience of which we´ve seen already three different stages.

If you can name 5 personality traits. Not bullshit characterization like hair color or character design that you find cute.
If you find 5 personality traits that are not synonymus with each other you win this debate! And don´t come at me with bullshit excuses like quality over quantity. Quality in regards to beauty or personality is entirely subjective and by default not measureable.

If you claim how she´s better because reasons, you just prove that you have shit taste.

Eh, feels way too much like Naruto all over again. Disappointed that no risks are taken in the new series, the kids are just clones of their parents, especially Boruto. Themes and plot all feel the same as Naruto so far too, this episode could easily be from Naruto with slightly different drawings, dialogue and names. Except early Naruto was better than this and felt somewhat fresh at the time, while now Boruto just feels tired and cliche. Even the way the class treats Boruto and the way he wins them over is is pretty much the same as Naruto's youth, come on. And looks like it'll just be more op eye wars between rival/friends in the future based on the flash forward.

I was hoping for something very different in this series, do we really just need more Naruto after hundreds of episodes of it? Sarada is the only interesting character so far, who deviates from her parents somewhat at least, wish she was mc. Also animation already fell sharply to filler levels in the 2nd episode lol, bad sign... O well, will give it a try for a while at least but so far it feels way too safe and copy paste.

Good stuff. Happy ep 2 is keeping up the quality. Really enjoyed the interactions Boruto is having with the other students in the academy. Building those live long relationships lol

Borutard for life!

Honestly wasn't up to par with the earlier academy episodes in Naruto. The fight could have been way better when it came to overall narrative and animation. The whole episode was way to cliche for me. It's been pretty much confirmed to have Boruto stronger than every other student there by the end which just makes them boring. I loved Naruto part 1 because of the characters that held themselves up with amazing combat styles, shippuden changed that making previously amazing characters (e.g Rock Lee, Neji and Hinata) unnecessary during important moments. Overall, if the next episodes are gonna be at this standard, I'll probably stop watching the series.

The second episode and we already have a "defeat them to befriend them". I mean, really? Come on, try being a bit more original and less predictable, please.

I know right? It scares me to think that the other episodes will be as cliche as this.

And this is why you don't do sequels to long-runners.

Pre-timeskip Naruto was actually so good, but this is kinda cliche shounen going on.

Lol then don't watch it? I don't understand why you people force yourself to watch this when you know it'll be mostly the same.

I don't know, I feel like I've seen this many times before already.
I hope it gets serious and dark as Naruto at some point. All I see here is a father complex.

It is - to me - still unacceptable that he looks, sounds, acts and talks like Naruto.

In the movie all this C&P Naruto redo academy bollox was skipped and Boruto was his own person with family issues; acting more like Sasuke than Naruto. That was an actual plot point, even. Plus only Sarada and Mitsuki got time, so the clones of other characters weren't such an issue. In the first episode of the filler series though you could tell they'd just lazily cloned Naruto and called him Boruto: same personality, speech and clone spam.

I suggest you all just watch the Boruto movie, which was, like, a proper cannon Kishimoto wrote that had a point. Best outcome for this series is it gets to and continues from where movie left off after a few 100 eps, whilst being butchered by the much loved Boruto manga artist.

Reading this thread, I'm glad I saw the warning signs with train nakama + Naruto mk2 in ep1 and ran for the e-hills.

PS: Also, that woman at end of ep1 really was Anko? I thought it might be but still... lol. The sexist forgotten-about-after-chuunin-exam-chara-evar, now fat/yyyyy.
