| Little did Bege knew.... Sanji was not acting at all. I swear Bege will regret teaming up with SH like Law did during Punk Hazard. But wow, Tamatebako box is back again! If I remembered correctly, Neptune's army rigged it with bombs right? Anyone else remembered the part where Madam Shirley predict that Luffy will destroy Fishman Island? What if Big Mom survived the explosion and redirect her anger towards the Fishman Island and destroys it, which would make sense because it was Luffy who sent her that box in exchange of the sweets. |

| I really thought this chapter we'd actually see the plan starting, I didn't expect it to be just getting closer. There are just so many things that could go wrong, and doom this entire plan. Sanji getting seduced, Bege not being careful enough while talking to people, Strawhats(especially Luffy) not getting up, Luffy's entrance, and the most important: That commander guy can see into the future, so it's going to be extremely difficult to make this plan work. I will be surprised if they will actually be able to bring down Big Mom with so little possibility, and so few (about 10) chapters remaining from this arc. Oda is a really good writer, so hopefully we'll be satisfied with the ending of this arc. I understand it Oda needs break, especially because he's been writing this manga for like 20 years, but he always chooses the worst possible time to take that break. Always right before something important happens. Of course it's a common strategy, and I don't have that much problem with it, but daaamn, really? >_< |

| I do miss the moments when Sanji was more chivalrous and less full blown Master Roshi or Kintaro Oe or whatever. Anyone remember that godawful nosebleed plotline?? it seemed ridiculous they took it remotely seriously, especially when the jinbe blood transfusion scene was heads and tails better. But 80 volumes in, you surely shouldn't expect Oda to drop a character trait in favor of development, a gag, a defining gag. Remember when Luffy defeating Arlong and saving her village made Nami less of a thief? Or when Chopper lost his naivety? Or when Luffy got became much more intelligent? Because I don't. Even Usopp is still a coward for crying out loud, I understanding complaining about overusing a gag, but everyone always forgets they've been reading an overexaggerated comedy series somehow. The only exception really is Robin being way more casual, but that's about it. Something like that might have been nice, but the defining part of One Piece's character gags is how they show up in even the most inappropriate moments. It's not like they ever affect the plots..except that awful nosebleed scene from FI. I DO agree with Isterio that Oda would have to have some sort of wish for Sanji to go from one of the best straw-hats to the worst if he somehow screws up this plan. Him not redeeming himself once would be a goddamn sin. But fawning over Pudding isn't remotely surprising to anyone who've been paying attention to the series for the first 11 volumes, nevermind the other 70. Acting silly in somewhere serious situations is a One Piece thing, acting silly in serious situations is *especially* a Sanji thing. Sanji was perfectly willing to roll over and die against Kalifa for instance, where Robin safety was on the line. Sanji realized and acknowledged the inappropriateness of his act in the situation, even, he just couldn't hold it in. Isterio said: Now he´s about to screw up their escape plan. The only way for that to work is to go all the way with it and make his behaviour central. If Sanji is gonna screw this weddng up, let him do it all the way not just have a minor part in it. Well, he didn't say it would be the "year of Sanji succeeding", he said it would be the year of Sanji. I'll defend my boi, but let's be honest he has been a shame since the timeskip. Sanj in Fishman Island nosebleed scene, Punk Hazard - Vergo ran away after breaking Sanji's leg. Sanji in Dressrosa - borderline irrelevant. Zou was more a transitional arc..and this arc speaks for itself. Oda has been shitting on Sanji for the past seven years. He has to get his moment this arc, there's no way around it, it's been a very downward spiral for one of the best of the straw-hats. |

| People keep saying that Sanji character development is ruined because of his reaction to pudding in her wedding dress. Honestly, I see nothing wrong with what he is doing right now. It's okay to love women, even bad apples like pudding. Pudding DOES look cute in her wedding dress, despite her intentions, and that's enough to excuse Sanji's behavior. Character development wise, he's okay, for now. But the main problem threatening his character development is his aversion to hit women. Will he be able to hit Pudding to save his life? | Meh, I don't care too much about character development in One Piece. Oda is just screwing with his readers, it's not like I ever expected Sanji to be less "chivalrous" or something. One Piece characters don't drops gags even in moments when they *really* should. That's what makes them One Piece characters. As long as it's not "nosebleed to death", no biggie. Edit: I would go as far as to say Sanji's character has been better this arc than any other arc this time skip, by a very wide margin.
