Nice, more Godzilla action. Unless they decide to skimp out on his screentime in the first movie or something because set-up.

It's Japanese, have any of the Japanese Godzilla movies been like that so far? No.

Have you ever watched any, that's exactly what they do. Forget showing Godzilla lets have some quasi-spy action where Hugh McMan infiltrates a boat of gorilla aliens disguised as men!

I was just going from my memory of watching the Japanese Godzilla movies when I was a kid, I remember Godzilla having plenty of screentime.

The 60s/70s series has a ton of movies that do a whole lot of nothing for an hour, then have some monsters show up and ruin things for another 20 minute, and then finally Godzilla shows up with 10 minutes left and they fight. I think Ghidorah, The Three Headed Monster might be the biggest culprit here. The majority of the film is people trying to capture a princess or something stupid, nothing to do with Godzilla. In the 80s/90s series, the plots became a lot more focused on the giant monsters, which was nice, but there would still be cases of the titular fight not happening until the very end (I'm looking at you, Godzilla vs Biollante.) The 2000s series is mostly just big monster brawls.

Anyways, this film had stuff going on for most of it, but in the end, it just seemed like they didn't fully complete the story so they could make sequels. Supposedly it's not doing too well in Japan, though, so who knows if we'll get another.
