Hm this episode was more calmer than I had thought at first. After the tense battle, Rose looks fired up for more.

Really interesting to see Velvet (from Berseria) briefly with a message.

Rose impressed me with her Armatization form. I think she's got better at using it too compared to the previous episode. Dezel also had a nice moment with her even if it was a goodbye. Sad moment :(

God damn it, of course the coolest character of the show dies. That was sad as shit. Especially when he showed his eyes to Rose.

To be honest, I wasn't really expecting 17 minutes of buildup in the penultimate episode after last week's ending.

I was kinda surprised when Dezel started talking about life philosophy, definitely not what I was expecting. XD

Sorey having a vision of Velvet was nice, she gave him some good advice. :)
Though it does kinda feel like they gave her this appearance for the sake of it.

Dezel's sacrifice at the end was cool, the farewell between him and Rose was kinda emotional. We finally get to see Dezel's eye and a huge smile. :D

Finale next week.

That was pretty sad at the end and that smile :( But still don't understand how are they fighting so many dragons after using nearly all powers to purify one. Mb they powered up, but not to the extent to taking all of them out. And if i understood correctly Rose even purufied dragons which is even more strange ...
So the Lord of Calamity remains, i wonder if Alisha will have some role (some use for Kamui).

Annoying first part with the group arriving at Meichio, the links with Berseria are as always badly done. What was the point to see Grimoir, to put a Scarlet Night, etc...?

Second part with Dezel and Rose armatization was more interesting but still, it wasn't as sad as the game.

Holy shit they did exactly like berseria , same village , same inn , same scene where they goes for the final battle , maybe even the same freaking gate

I am pretty sure grimoire wasn't in zest they totally pulled that out of no where , srsly if don't know berseria you won't know what the hell is her deal

Sorey meeting velvet was nice but lets admit it was just fan-service

WTF with innominat plot all over again BTW ? what happend to maotelus ?

So, Grimoire is alive? I'm happy someone from Berseria appart of Zaveid is well. They also portrayed the Scarlet Night, mentioned Innominat and the other 5 Empyreans and they not only visited Meirchio, but they're going to mount Killaraus (those who had played Berseria will know the importance of mount Killaraus, though the episode already metnioned it's importance anyway), so I wonder if

I also see as a good thing to have an entire episode dedicated to Dezel's sacrifice (that battle has to be the best one of this season). However, if the next episode is going to be the last, unless they announce a third season or a movie (highly unlikely), it will be rushed as hell.

I'm also glad we managed to saw Dezel's eyes before he died.

I think the same, it was fanservice, and Velvet's final line to Sorey was cheesy (and they also spoiled her "why does birds fly?" response too, lmao), but it's Velvet, so I don't have any complaint.

I wonder if that is Velvet's stellar return to Zestiria and she wouldn't actually appear at the end xD

The old hag just doesn't die , in berseria they said her age is around 5000 mean in zest she's 6000 lol

They mentioned Innominat + the Five Lords. Btw, it's really funny at this point. Anime-only folks clearly don't know wtf is going on here.
Also, forget about Berseria adaptation. They already spoiled the endgame, so it obvi. won't happen.

Oh five were they ? didn't notice that

Yeah it's not even enough to play zest you have to play berseria to understand what the hell is going on , I always felt the anime was for the people who played the game they just wanted it to raise the sails for the two games anyway

What part did they spoil ? we already know about the beginning of the story , they just mentioned that velvet was here in the past when meebo asked sorey what happened to her he said it's not written

1. the troops being absolutely useless since the beginning until the end
2. lunarre still looks stupid
3. symonne character is still big wtf since the beginning until the end, both anime and game
4. dezel said he won't kill but minute after that he kamikaze attack all the dragons
5. Meirocho, grimoa, velvet, innominat, 5 empyrian, scarlet night, mount killaurus, all the berseria fanservice stuff

so I guess mr.leomon want to summon all 5 empyrian like velvet did and take control of all of them for whatever reason,we don't even know a single thing about mr.leomon lol

Dezel taking out all those dragons was pretty cool, and his farewell with Rose was touching. Only one episode left for them to defeat the King of Calamity.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

Yea i know but purifying dragons r anime-original stuff. Killing a dragon in Zestiria does not turn them back and Symonne did turn back into a seraph

my guess is they gain the power of purification because they are soreys squires/lailahs sublords. it would make sense, though i know that common sense cant be applied to the anime adaptation anymore.

They should have went berseria-centric far earlier instead of trying to salvage Zestiria's messy endgame. Most of these plots could have been avoided tbh.

Anyway character bites the dust to use his life to purify all the dragons there and I just can't really care because Zestiria's characters are dull and one-note and anime did not really do anything with them beyond actually managing to give Alisha more screentime that she deserved.
Atavistic said:

I mean its no different from how the game ending was in a way? The game too just ENDED without much of actual closure or sense of progression.
I'd say the anime so far actually is doing a b etter job of wrapping up then the mess that game ending was.

GangsterCat said:

Considering they are Shepherd's lackeys now, the anime most likely is saying that they are extension of his will and powers. Which kind of makes perfect sense, actually.

Not to mention Berseria's ending had a very good lead-up and made actual sense within the story and within the protagonist's characterization. You know, the things Zestiria never had.

Zestiria's ending is just a mess that comes out of nowhere and makes no sense.
Berseria, while having an open ended conclusion, actually built it up perfectly and made the players care for the characters and understand why it happened the way it did.

But it's important to remember that a movie review is subjective;it only gives you one person's opinion.

It doesn't matter if you like LoGH,Monster etc.If you are a jobless or college/school dropout living in your mom basement, you are still an unintelligent loser. Taste in anime does not make you a better person. If elitist don't exist, casual pleb and shit taste also don't exist.

I just stayed true to the point that a Seraoh had no way to purify a dragon. It used to be impossible until Sorey did it. So it would be a total @ss-pull if Seraphs could just go a purify dragons by just 'sacrificing' themselves...

Not really? He is still tied to Shepherd and is an extension of him just like human squires are.

Let's also not forget that purity is the main aspect of Dezel.

Lailah and Sorey entered a pack which gave Lailah the Flames of Purification. Sorey's powers as a Shepherd comes from Lailah.

Other Seraphs have entered a Sub-lord pack, which allows them to benefit from that power (from the pack between Sorey and Lailah). This allows them to also being able to purify (non-human) Hellions.

Squires have entered a "Squire-pack" with Sorey, which tied their lives to him. This granted them the ability to see Hellions and Seraphs. Squires can help the Shepherd with its burden, but Squires themselves (much like the Shepherd) can't purify Hellions without the help of Seraphs. Alisha wasn't able to purify a Hellion even though she became a Squire. That was because she had no Seraphs inside her or assisting her.

ANYWAYS, the reason why Dezel could have purified those Dragons was because he was bound to a pack between Sorey and Lailah. He had access to the Flames (Winds) of purification. Normal Seraphs sacrificing themselves wouldn't have saved those dragons. It's a bit different from the game, where Dezel used his life to break an unbreakable curse/link/ties. In the anime, he used his life to save the unsavable (Dragons).

In the game, he used the gun to shoot himself into a Hellion. In the Anime, he "shot" himself at a pack of Dragons.

Since episode 10 I've been wondering, why brought so many troops? They did absolutely nothing (almost like what Zaveid always does).

I don't play Berseria yet so I have no idea about that Grimoar or whoever her name is, but I know that scarlet night.

I wonder if Dezel will sacrifice himself like he did in the game and suddenly he pulled the death flag everytime he talked. I prefer the game version of dezel's last goodbye, although as long as I remember the dialogue is still the same, and it wasn't as sad as the game.

Overall it was ok. Finale next week, I wonder how Sorey will end Lord of Calamity's laifu in one episode.
