first episode/story intro direct rip-off of saga frontier

Just watched the first episode of this show. It isn't bad, but I noticed that it is literally almost verbatim the same story as the playstation 1 jrpg SaGa Frontier. In that game, the intro is a boy's coming of age ceremony in a royal family set in a prosperous magical world where all people use a type of magic called "anima" to make life easier etc. etc. At this proving ceremony, members of the royal family hold aloft a mystic sword called firebrand, and imbue it with their anima to prove their power or whatever. At the ceremony, the prince fails to do this and is found to not have such a power. He is exiled from his own kingdom forever, blah blah blah. Yes there are differences, but holy shit the similarities are SO in-your-face lol.

Did he also get sent to all-male base with other non-magic users and then forced to fight monsters in mechs for a living?
