| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Jesus, they still spent like 10 minutes on the Tyranno although it was obvious he was done after last episode. That definitely made it feel like the crammed too much into this episode. You don't need to extend all the story arcs to the very last moment, I usually find it better if you resolve them one at a time so you can properly deal with them. I mean everything went pretty much as expected but there wasn't enough time for the individual conclusions to have much impact. Anyway, this series has a bunch of flaws or should I say outdated narrative concepts that made the story feel a bit stale, predictable and repetitive at times, but it also had plenty of enjoyable aspects. I really enjoyed this setting, not only because it's refreshing to see in anime but also because the tribe-based societies lent themselves well to dealing with certain topics like racism, religion, group mentality, slavery etc... The world, their travels and the various different tribes and characters they encountered really made this show a fun journey even though the main story lines were dragged out and predictable and full of silly survivals and last minute rescues. And since I generally care more for the characters I had a good time watching this so I'll give it a 7/10. Honestly, if the finale was better and not so entirely predictable and rushed I'd probably have given it an 8 despite its flaws. |
