Touken Ranbu and TR Hanamaru difference

So I started this topic discussion because I'm really curious and couldn't find the answer to my question anywhere. I really wanted to know what's the difference between Touken Ranbu Hanamaru, that's airing now, and Touken Ranbu, that will air in 2017. Like, do they live in a different world? Or the same? And why is it in Hanamaru the main leads are Yasusada and Kiyomitsu while in Touken Ranbu it's Munechika? Do they know each other in the game story or they don't?

I don't really play the game and just watch the anime for the sake of watching and when I see there's another version in 2017 I got confused. And in Hanamaru the op song there's Munechika but it seems that he might not appear in Hanamaru(?) so I got even more confused. Would love it if anyone could explain it to me. Thank you!!

The ufotable version in 2017 will be more action/plot-oriented, while Hanamaru focuses on the slice of life aspect of the swords at the citadel. No one knows whether it'll be within the same citadel/timeline/universe and there's only been one promotional poster with Mikazuki Munechika on it and one trailer that doesn't show much besides the fact that it will be very serious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4RYypl7NrA

Mikazuki will be showing up later in Hanamaru; it's safe to say anyone who showed up in the OP will be getting an appearance at some point.
