| Ah, I torrented this a while ago and didn't notice. Been a while since I listen to any of Porter Robison's stuff. It was a really nice short and managed to hit some pretty nice feels. And man, I knew that character design and animations looked familiar, just finished another anime where Megumi Kouno worked on, she does a great job at what she does. Is MAL not accepting this? |

But it was made by a well known Japanese studio with a Japanese VA and staff etc, true it only had a bit if dialogue in the beginning and end but i would still consider it an anime short more then anything, there is definitely an anime out there that has like no dialogue but is still considered an anime, also Hatsune Miku music videos have no dialogue but are still considered an anime according to MAL so i don't see why this cant be considered one if you get my point. |

| The concept of that Music video reminds me of this video. Not saying that both Shelter and Initiation (the song below) are similar. But the idea of a world where it exists within their imaginations are shown in both. Nonetheless, as both an anime fan and Porter's fan, I love this music video. It will be weird if MAL did not categorise this as an anime, on top of it, Shelter was made by A-1 pictures. I'm pretty sure that some Vocaloid songs have been categorised as an anime on MAL even though it was made independently (ie no anime production company contribution). |

Well considering the dialogue was in Japanese is would suggest its made for both Japanese and western markets. It should be on MAL its a wonderful piece of art either way. |

This guy, Yonezu Kenshi is a musician/artist that often makes his own animated music videos. He's not anime director nor an anime producer, but I'm surprised his works are on MAL. If you compare Shelter with Yonezu-san's videos, I'd say Shelter is more likely to fall into the category of anime than Yonezu Kenshi's videos. I guess he has the advantage of him and his songs being Japanese. |

Comparing the two, I feel like this took less effort as there was less movement and they used more CGI for the background. Canipa did a video for her a while back too if you're interested. |
