Im srry for stating my opinion but this show rlly had potential to be much greater, to be like emotional and dealing with loss and stuff like that, but instead they chose to make it the same thing every time and almost every episode feels like the same as the last. Its just flat out boring and no, instead of being heartwarming, they decided to try to make tsumugi look as cute as possible even tho she lost her charm 5 episodes ago :l

Imao, it's already great as it is. If you can't appreciate this heart-warming slice of life, maybe it just wasn't for you to begin with. That being sad, all the emotional stuff is still ahead. Read the manga if you're feeling impatient. But in terms of story and pacing this is a typical slice of life - it can be repetitive, it can lack plot or conflict, but the atmosphere has always been more important in this genre. And in this case it is a wonderful healing atmosphere that makes you feel better after a long and difficult day.

Same goes for the suddenly negative reviews. I honestly don't get were all this bashing is coming from. Why does everyone fixate on Tsumugi without mentioning Kouhei and how he deals with loss and being a single father, how he learns new things almost every episode, and does his utmost to keep Tsumugi from feeling as if she lacks something and is worse off than other kids. And what else do you expect from a character of a little girl? Kids are cute by default, the rest of the time they are difficult, and they grow up fast. Yeah, this show skips all the real life gory details and concentrates on the fluff instead, but that's exactly what this is about. And they've been very good at adapting the manga so far.

well if you say it eventually gets emotional than ill keep watching it

You can drop it for all I care. There are four episodes left, I don't know if they will adapt the emotional stuff yet, but the manga has plenty material for a second season.

As always another enjoyable episode.

Why are some people incapable of just sitting down and enjoying an anime? You're bored watching? Maybe you should move on to something more stimulating. This anime isn't going to cater to viewers with short attention spans. The anime isn't boring at all, it's very enjoyable.

Well, I can take a guess here, but the complaints are probably coming from the younger audience. Considering that this is a seinen, it might simply not appeal to their taste.

I cannot speak for others, but as someone not from the younger audience I find this anime rather simplistic. Despite having a serious topic of loss, the series seems rather shallow and not even trying to show some depth. We see the same pattern in every episode: there is some issue and it is dealt with through cooking. Nothing in life is that simple :)
I would not say that "Amaama to Inazuma" is a bad show, but definitely average for me. The pacing is too slow, the characters are not lovable (except for Mikio), the plot is repetitive. Of course, there are good moments, but they are not enough to make this anime better. The only thing for now that brought real joy was in the previous episode, when we got into Tsimugi's head.

Great episode again. I loved the bring your parent to school part. Though I found it strange that Sensei was the only dad there. Mikio's a fun character and also is being portrayed very realistically with his potty humor and crush on Tsumugi.

The cooking this episode was also nice. I've always liked squid, so it seemed extra yummy for me! Also, the apple design Sensei attached to Tsumugi's bad looks really cute!

What's with the disappointment and hate in every new episode discussion, clearly this show isn't for a lot of people here in the first place but they still continue to watch? I just don't understand, do you expect any development in a so called "healing" anime which this really is is just ridiculous, it's like expecting Flying Witch which was last season to have any development.

I'm not going to defend this series because I don't believe it needs defending. But I'd like to mention that Barakamon, Flying Witch, Kimi to Boku, among others, are all what you would call simplistic, although I don't agree with that label.
When I came to watch this anime, I didn't have any unrealistic expectations. I knew what I would get because I was familiar with the manga and with the genre. Otherwise I would not spend my time watching something that I thought wasn't worthy of my time to begin with. Very few slice of life offer any drama and an overarching plot. They are slow and episodic by nature.
It's impossible for a medium to cater to everyone's wishes, but an anime will always find its audience regardless of whether people say positive or negative things about it.

Naturally, I would not expect you to defend this anime, because you have your reasons to watch it and I have mine. It's just that you like it and I find it not so enjoyable.
I am not sure why you see Barakamon as simplistic because it really differs from "Amaama to Inazuma" in many things, especially in so-called depth.
Personally speaking, I find the 'Slice of Life' genre charming and one of the best, but it should be treated carefully. Here, in this anime, I did not find what I was looking for.

soo full of fluff and xD too cute... poor mikio tho xD
Kotori being cute... im certain at this point that eating s just Kotori's Hobby xD not Gluton but she just like eating (difference? Not sure) . Just eat even if you are in front of your teacher in the middle of class.

Anyway ive been wondering since few episode back about that band aid on Kotori's hand. She always had one on her hand only when they cook. Looks like they finally show us why xD... my question answered. Mystery (not really) Solved.

Shounen maid is VERY underrated. Go watch that instead. It has a great balance between comedy and drama. Plus, it can get quite emotional. Does amaama? No, except in ep 1. Also the development is gr8 in shounen maid :D

Because its a great series (at least in my opinion), yet it only has 26 thousand members. It may seem clichéd but its rlly something special. Definetly check it out in English if ye can because the eng dub is rlly good (it got a broadcast dub)

guys i an lost here, whrn it comes to kotori , all we know is that she was eating her lunch when she saw tsmuki and her father . Later they went to her resturant and eat there , plus she is a student in his class . Okay ?

But it feels like kotori had feelings for sensi from the get go , or they just didn't give more depth into why kotori is into that family .Their meeting and all was somewhat fast for strangers .
I just can't seems to like the fact that they have no depth in this show , the first hlaf do highlight some new growth . But the cooking part is becoming very very dull . I want to see more depth .

Oh and i do like the calm paced animes such as flying witch , so i am not bitching about slow paced , just that the show has very littel to offer .

I know a lot of people ship the teacher and Kotori but I hate that ship so much. Teacher/Student ships are so fucking creepy, I don't care even if she turns 18 and shit. Why can't we just have a fatherly figure for Kotori without having to bring romance and sex into it? It gives me something along the lines of Usagi Drops (manga end) category of creepiness.

Tsumugi's seiyuu's laugh is so fucking creepy and fake.

I think the big turn-off is that it's looks like a shonen ai, and considering how many things with shonen ai ended up recently, it's not up many people's alley. You can probably call it a hidden gem, however

Not even going to get into the argument about whether this show is overrated. Tastes differ and not everyone can be satisfied, we'll just have to leave it at that. It's not a matter of objective rating.

Not a big fan of squid, but this show manages to make every dish look like golden greatness. Which is why I make sure I'm watching it right after dinner, when I'm quite content myself.

This episode threw in a lot of poop jokes, making up for the shocking lack in the last couple of episodes. Know what? TEACHER WENT POOPIES!

More proof that Tsumugi is growing up to be a good kid, it was cute how she lead the class in waiting for the kid who needed to go to the bathroom. She's such a little heartbreaker though!

Tsumugi's reaction to squid was cute. I was never given seafood when I was little except for things like fish sticks so I'm not sure how I would have reacted. When I have my own kids I want to introduce them to seafood at a young age though :D

Even if imperceptibly, the narrative structure is changing is the thing it can not do well in terms of involvement and evolution of history, I liked much this episode. He has also deepened a little character kotori, although it is too little for me.

People complaining this being repetitive and starting to get boring and yet still over half of the people gave this episode a 5/5. They are either contradicting themselves or not voting at all. I for one kindly gave this episode a 2/5.

Up to this point 2/3 of the show, almost every episode is about a single father making different dishes with his daughter and a JK. With just that it's amazing how this show is getting a score of upper 7s. I am not getting any heart-warming feelings from this and as a lolicon myself, I don't find Tsumugi cute in the slightest way. Her hair is a mess and her looks and voice is pretty average for me.

Just in case people ask, I'm not dropping because I rarely drop shows I have started and I'm interested to see how they will bring about the remaining 4 episodes.

i prefer woman at least 20+ not below it  :)
bedos should be castrated :)
that will never happen cause i don't have that type of porn  :) so u can dream of that day for life cause its not gonna happen :)
also i was chill :), i was merely surprised how short sides some ppl can be and don't see whats going on

also pedophile is saome1 who attracted to younger then 12 sexually pedophiles are attracted to kids sexually & teens are not kids they are between kids & adults they are called teens

no less than 100 years ago. 200 years ago, a 12 year old was considered a -young- adult. That's why most women were usually married between 12 and 16. That was the effect of one of the most fundamental laws of nature;

also pedo is illness where some1 sees only children sexually and Ephebophilia is illness where some1 sees only teens sexually (unable to get off from adults, also pedo is unable to get off from teens and Ephebophilia is unable to get of from pre-teens) and yet some life long married couples started like this, even modern day and places where sex between 18+ and below 18 is illegal, law doesn't forbid dating just sex so if they fell for each other its not our place to say they shouldn't be together, if the younger counterparts parents don't like it cause they feel he or she is sus (don't trust the older counterpart that he or she won't cross that line) then they can forbit it even get restraining order if parents word isn't enough and in fiction its matters even less

i just side with love if the 2 are in love each other i don't mind them dating (i even ship them) as long as they satay in a certain boundaries just cause it could cause issues, teen pregnancy isn't good, its hard for teens & right new i am not talking about this anime i am talking about the issue overall :) that's also why i am not against student teacher romance even if the student would be my own daughter unless i know somehow (like i heard him talk with a friend) the guy only wants to use her then i would not support it

if she would be my daughter & cause hes good guy i would even try to get him out of that hole so he would start to think of woman again & i would try to match him with Kotori (in other words i would try to make him & Kotori couple) that ofc after seeing how they spend time together like that

sometimes love can happen between teen and older, some cases the older doesn't know the age of the younger1 and u can't ask cause if u do its way to ruin ur chance to find a partner and when u do find out later u can't back down or ur chicken (cause feeling don't go away just like that, and i say we humans need to follow our feelings when it comes to romance), do what ever just try to stay in the bounds of the law cause when ur in jail that doesn't help any1

EDIT:

BDW i misunderstood what u were saying, i took it like he is her father figure (witch would mean ur blind to whats really going on) but what u meant was in ur opinion hes better to her as father figure then romantic interest

i see them as cute couple, and she wants to be hes baby mommy, that's obvious, in anime i ship chars i see as good match regardless of age, as long one isn't pre-teen cause that's actually disgusting

Being the only father in a group of parents must be kind of tough. Reminds me of Tomoya Okazaki.

Kotori takes being watery-eyed to a whole new level.

OMG i felt the same way, I was constantly remembering Okaziki with ushio

Nice.

Kind of random, but I just noticed that the mangaka's name is almost identical to that of the village in Naruto.
