About when will we get the rest of the story?

I am about to end this anime and i am afraid whether this will be one of the usual axed series in which i won't live to see an ending. What are the odds for a second season? Also, in which volume has the anime left off and about when will we get an english translation of this? Also, how much of the story is covered in the anime and about how much is left in the LN for the series to be completed? Seems like it will take a long time to get an ending to this but i hope i get some good news.

I can not tell you much but the BD and DVD sales were very good in Japan and the LN is also doing well but since that much time passed I guess the chances are currently not so good. I would say a chance of 30% for a second season because of good sales and 70% because it's been so long. But you may never know. Full Metal Panic is getting after all the years a new season.
