It felt so abrupt and didn't have any proper ending...

No, it will be around 20 episodes (rather OVA). It were 4-5 Movies planned or something but those will be chopped down into 4-5 episodes per movie. So calculate something like 20+ episodes (rather OVA) altogether as far as i know.
Maybe they change some things here and there again, but as it stand now, this could be it.

Ah, so it's like the berserk: golden egg triology that never got an ending?

If you consider Berserk Trilogy as beeing the Anime series just chopped into 3 Movies (with new look and everything), then it is something like that i would say.

That's a very good financing and production strategy!

In reality will be 6 movies! Crunchyroll just divided the first movie in 4 parts for a better viewing experience in the site. Possible they will do the same for the rest of the movies.

Also this isn't an OVA series, but a movie where people that go to the Theater can buy the DVD/BD earlier.

Which makes it NOT a movie in the way it was presented by crunchyroll. As well nobody said that it was an OVA, what i said was "it is rather an OVA", which means that it is not an OVA but somewhat like it the way crunchyroll presented and the version a lot of us saw.

Who cares about Crunchyroll and the retarded decisions it makes? It's still made, advertised and commercialized as a movie everywhere else.

I get what you're saying. Indeed, the way Crunchyroll is presenting it, it's not a movie.
My point is that Crunchyroll is stupid and their random decision of splitting it should just be ignored at large.

Most episodes even end abruptly and give the feel it's weirdly paced because of this decision. I have seen a lot of people complain about pacing and then talking about episodes, so this shit is actually hurting the series.

Sure, you are right.
But the question was here if it has only 4 episodes, which makes actually anybody to believe that the person asking watched the crunchyroll version..........as did i and a lot of other people did. Was it a stupid decision from crunchyroll? Probably. Maybe the actual movie does it better than the "OVA-like" episodes (for the actual pacing as an example) but that was not the question i was answering here.

It is a movie, the way it was presented on Crunchyroll was like an OVA but on the DVD/Blu Ray releases it won't be episodic, it will be the full films. This isn't entirely uncommon, 5cm per second had a similar release in which it was released as 3 OVAs but it is still a feature length film. Would have been nice if they gave you the option to watch it both ways.

5cm per second actually had 3 arcs/stories so splitting it up works. Not this.

Okay. I don't know if this is the proper place to ask this, or not, but earlier I watched three episodes on Hulu, our of four. Are those four counted as the first "movie?" Or is each episode an actual "movie?" @_@ I want to keep track of it on here, but I am so fucking confused.

All four parts = 1 movie.

I saw the split version...the cuts were strange. I saw it in theaters opening day and when I returned home, I looked it up. IMO, it flowed better altogether as one film.
