Some frustration and a bit of pent up emotion... Miyoshi's gallantry gets mistaken for disinterest... And the nuts and bolts of their relationship - Mamiya, the brilliant kid who was unapproachable, Miyoshi the kid who was desperate to be his friend, but didn't feel he could stand by his side unless he was his equal... In the end, Miyoshi's insistence on competition is what made them close... It looks like the bigger obstacle to the two of them getting together isn't gender, but Mamiya's personal demons. She can't allow her self to fall in love, because falling in love means being betrayed in her mind... |
