That was a long speech.. but a good one. Some of it was repetitive but who cares.

Hopefully next episode ain't going to be Shiroe's speech.

I didn't expect the Master Guild was an emotional person... :)
Well, not bad with your brilliant discuss. It gave me more hope for you ;)
Stay strong until you can finish the Raid!
Certainly next episode will be great...

This. And the speech really could have been summed up in two or three minutes. There's no good reason that this had to take the whole freaking episode when it really wasn't even that good.

The guild master's speech may be not as impactful as Martin Luther's, but I thought it was okay. I mean they've just been defeated, it was necessary to lift them up again.

No way that speech could've been less than 5 mins, it had too much to do.
Tell his life story and beat himself up and other kuso gamers about how he has no redeeming features,
motivate the guild members and find himself (he was actually making stuff as he went along so naturally it'd be hard to be concise),
express the reason for why he plays the game and why he can't run away after losing,
express how he enjoys the game through various examples of in-game activities,
show how observant he is about his in-game friends,
explain why he helps Shiroe and why he ran away during the Round Table thing,

I didn't mind the long speech too much. It was a good one. And we learned a bit more about William. Seems like we get to find out Shiroe's motives next episode? Looking forward to it!

Man that speech hit me hard man. The emotions and the balls to even say all that shit was just amazing for me. Nakamura Yuichi really did a great job with the voice acting.

Strong comeback after last few episodes (Akatsuki moping and whining).

For an episode dedicated to a speech, it did a good job at keeping my interest. William threw down quite the speech this episode. I can't say I completely relate to his situation, but some of it did strike a chord with me, both as a person and when I was a regular gamer. Particularly the part about how wasting time on something you enjoy isn't a waste as well as the whole bit with excelling when excited about the silly things. I also like how this is going more in depth about what Elder Tale means to each player. It really goes to show that people can learn life lessons through all kinds of paths and experiences. Admittedly though I was ready to laugh if they were all like "uhh no dude, we all were regular people irl. That was just you."

Great speech.. but they could have at least make it short and move-on to the story.... cause I was so hyped on what will they do, cause that's no joke... taking on 3 raid boss at the same time.. technically is a game over, must have been bug on the Elder Tale part, or it's really the game anymore...

Worst episode so far in the entire series. Can't understand why anyone thinks the speech was good... it was utter crap. I would have fallen asleep if I didn't have to keep my eyes open to read the subtitles. All he did was make the same points over and over and over again. The only person to make any sense was Demikas interrupting with 'muchakucha'.
They could have easily condensed his speech down to about 5 minutes including a 1 minute silence to respect the fallen and a 2 minute song to raise spirits followed by a tea break and a quick nap.

That's probably the longest, lamest and most boring and anti-climatic speech I've ever heard. Damn. But the one thing like in this episode was how William explained his passion( yeah mom passion, not obsession nor addiction) for Elder Tale. I can relate to that 100%. That's around 5 years ago when I got so hooked to mmorpgs that I literally think about it all day. Even when I'm eating, showering, even at school I think about my games and how I'm finally be able to upgrade that sword once I get home. Hell I even dreamt about games from time to time. Oh the good times. Now instead of worrying about exclusive game events I worry about useless stuff like thesis and practicum. zzzzzz

Gamer speech? Well, to some things I can relate to, but half of it is a bit extreme. But not only games, everything you do with passion is your own thing and you should never let others tell you what you can't like. Still, that monologue went for more then half of the episode...

Seems like Shiroe is inspired as well. Maybe the truth will rise their morale even higher.

What?? That speech was WAY too much. I literally couldn't breathe. Was glad when the episode finally ended. Inspirational speech is fine and all. The speech was great until it just kept on going and going. Fuck me...They could have ended the speech a lot sooner. The guy was literally just repeating himself to kill time. What a fucking waste. I'm honestly sorry I even saw that episode...

I feel this season has met no pause. Yes, they had "breaks"when they die, but if you summarize all, it seems like it's been a big conflict (one in Akibahara and one in the raid zone)

That was quite an emotive speech. I liked this episode. It was truly necessary.
Good to have so character profundization over here.

If you think this episode is filler, go away. There are other and more basic anime you may like. Those with fights all the time, lights, flashes, and no character development.

I was really surprised with the length of this speech, but it was a good speech none the less. The voice actor has always been one of my favourites, so adds to the enjoyment. Kinda makes you feel better as a gamer.

Feels cringy, but lets be honest, if someone told you about their life like that in real life you would cringe as well. But that's why it was so memorable and powerful.

Also seeing William in a new light.

Some long-winded ass speech that didn't move me. XP Shiroe was impressed that Williams was pouring heart out even though he didn't say out loud he was looking up to Shiroe ever since.

Good speech, but it dragged too long. Nice to see William get some character development tho.

Listening to his speech made me realize he had the same seiyuu as Toyohisa from Drifters. Now I can't stop picturing him whenever William opens his mouth.

Not much happened this episode, but next one should be more interesting. 7/10

Gamers rise up? Gamers rise up. Speech didn't need a whole damn episode, even if parts of it I appreciate. Boring as fuck and a large waste of screentime. 3/10

edit: To clarify, concept of a episode being dedicated to a monologue doesn't bother me, but William's was very poorly written.

Here's a transcript of the full episode:

They targeted gamers.

Gamers.

We're a group of people who will sit for hours, days, even weeks on end performing some of the hardest, most mentally demanding tasks. Over, and over, and over all for nothing more than a little digital token saying we did.

We'll punish our selfs doing things others would consider torture, because we think it's fun.

We'll spend most if not all of our free time min maxing the stats of a fictional character all to draw out a single extra point of damage per second.

Many of us have made careers out of doing just these things: slogging through the grind, all day, the same quests over and over, hundreds of times to the point where we know evety little detail such that some have attained such gamer nirvana that they can literally play these games blindfolded.

Do these people have any idea how many controllers have been smashed, systems over heated, disks and carts destroyed 8n frustration? All to latter be referred to as bragging rights?

These people honestly think this is a battle they can win? They take our media? We're already building a new one without them. They take our devs? Gamers aren't shy about throwing their money else where, or even making the games our selves. They think calling us racist, mysoginistic, rape apologists is going to change us? We've been called worse things by prepubescent 10 year olds with a shitty head set. They picked a fight against a group that's already grown desensitized to their strategies and methods. Who enjoy the battle of attrition they've threatened us with. Who take it as a challange when they tell us we no longer matter. Our obsession with proving we can after being told we can't is so deeply ingrained from years of dealing with big brothers/sisters and friends laughing at how pathetic we used to be that proving you people wrong has become a very real need; a honed reflex.

Gamers are competative, hard core, by nature. We love a challange. The worst thing you did in all of this was to challange us. You're not special, you're not original, you're not the first; this is just another boss fight.
