Superior better than Superior Cross?

I'm currently on chapter 5 of Superior Cross, and I'll keep reading..but I feel a bit disappointed. I liked Superior better..suddenly, Superior Cross turns the whole thing into a comedy. There's also disney-like cheesy moments like with Angelica's grandpa (which should feel heartwarming but it was instead...really cheesy). I don't know why, but I feel like yuusha/exa/hero's character has changed. He does not seem the same, but for what aspect I can't really explain.

Currently, Lakshiri's friend is telling him why he's become a monster and stuff..all his reasons are really stupid like "The only way to get out of the darkness is to create DESPAIR and DESTRUCTION, if I can't use my right hand no one else can!" I was like, I was waiting in suspense for this stupid, idiotic motive such as this? And I bet there's gonna be a cheesy reunion when lakshiri saves his friend...

Also, where did the whole plot about killing the demon lord go? I read the end of superior, and was like wow, then superior cross..and it just has a completely different feel. Also, if Sheila decided she can't kill the hero, then what is she planning to do? Just live a lie until it's found out? Didn't she say she would kill her copy?

I don't know if I'm explaining it right, but superior cross (so far) seems to be worse than superior. Please tell me it gets better. It's not terrible, but it doesn't live up to superior. does anyone else feel this way? :( Then again, I felt superior kinda went downhill at the end too (how did valentin suddenly transform from a monster to a human?)
