So not only is Wixoss selling a lot of merch(cards), its also getting a lot of pre-orders.

The sales estimate just went up on Amazon Stalker, and its estimated at 16.3k for its first week sales(roughly 18.1k if you include wk2+ sales). Since it went only recently, it'll obviously drop. But it still has a good chance at getting in the top 4 of the season, and maybe even the top 3(depending on how Haikyuu!! will do).

Well, I guess it wouldn't have gotten a 2nd season confirmed so soon if it wasn't a safe investment.

I do feel somewhat surprised that it is selling a lot of card game related merch. I mean there's very little (if any) exposition of cards and game mechanics in the actual show. Regardless of that being a critic of the show itself, I just feel that if they were intending to market the anime in that way (to sell cards) it would have made sense to show more of the game in it.

(on another note, any predictions for Haikyuu so far? I guess it unfortunately won't sell as much as Kuroko but I still hope it's a decent hit)

I wish they would explain the card game thoroughly and I might get into the card game if a handheld or console adaptation is released.

I want to say that I doubt the anime had a huge impact on the actual TCG merch sales.

Worked well enough to get me interested in the game, although to really convince me, I still needed the rules and tutorial videos from the game's own site (with the nice help of the Asenshi translation). Then again, TCG history also features the Pokémon TCG outselling all competition thanks to an existing fanbase that had nothing to do with this type of games and obviously no explanation in the anime. If you can get people interested in the material and show them that a game exists, it will sell even without ruining the fun by focusing too much on the gameplay mechanics.

Now give us the game in English, dammit, I'm not going to buy it in Japanese, no matter how much I love the series.

Well for me they dun goofed with the plot, I don't see how they can redeem it without ignoring it and getting on with a new arc.

But hey merch can be sold via a multi media puzzle as well by having all this mystery about the story and setting.
