THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Misaki and Sakura got their (short-lived) revenge, they were really taking it to Hornet. Misaki's Queen Bee specials are awesome as always. I don't know why the main series couldn't be more like these episodes.

Yumbo and Hornet are true bad guys. I hope Misaki is going to be okay for their go home match. They were really beating the crap out of her after the match. I'm looking forward to Sakura kicking their asses all over the ring, hopefully.

Okay I get it, these tag team matches are a 3-round best 2 out of 3 match between these 2 teams. So currently each team has 1 win and is tied, the final special will decide the winner of this shindig.

Oh and also....

No they are not, they are just Heel Wrestlers that fight dirty and play for keeps. They had no reason to do what they did besides to kick ass regardless if they fought illegally or not. Whereas both Rio and Elena HAD actual reasons for doing what they did in the series, as simple as it were considering this is a wrestling anime series but they were both still the image of a villain with all the stuff they did.

The main series was ALWAYS like this FYI, everyone was just too blind by the fan service to realize that.

What do you call an enemy that fights for no reason and just for the hell of it? A common foot soldier, that is what Yumbo and Hornet are here as they are not important at all.

Most wrestlers fight to win, or they would be in another profession. The wrestlers that cheat using unsportsmanlike methods, such as weapons, illegal double teams and interference, would probably be what I'd consider the "bad guy" wrestlers. Everyone else, even Rio and Elena in their antagonist roles, followed the rules by the book and fought fair and square. I wouldn't consider them "bad guys" by any stretch of the means. They are only antagonists to the story because they are opposite the protagonist, but they are good people with justified perspectives, even if they don't align with Sakura.

Rio is probably the closest thing to an actual puroresu heel wrestler, because even they abide by all the rules and requirements. But puroresu fans hate the hell out of cheaters because they ruin the competitive aspect of the sport (like Prince Devitt and the Bullet Club). The whole good guy/bad guy dynamic isn't really a large thing like it is in the sports entertainment-style of wrestling. Most puro wrestlers are out there to do their best and prove they are better than their opponent. Winning by cheating doesn't prove that you are better.

The alternative is that the fanservice didn't exist as heavily as it did in the main series. When watching the wrestling specials, the wrestling is sort of a no-frills, all-out experience. It lacks the extended writhing, inner monologue and body camera shots that plagued the main series through what were excellent wrestling matches. It exists, but even I understand that the fanservice and ecchi was distracting to a lot of folks.

I feel like if the wrestling was more like the wrestling specials and focused on the match more like it did in the latter half of the main series (especially early on in the season), it probably would have gained more traction with viewers instead of being dropped by a lot of people. I love this show and it is probably the best modern wrestling anime we will ever get, but I do feel like there was some potential (shown with these specials) that got buried along the way.

It's funny how when someone tags in, they go completely all out like the ring is their world..

Why is she allowed to bring a wooden practice sword into the ring anyway?

Turnabout teammates.
If you see that my post is exactly 1 month old (or more) from when it was posted... Don't waste your time, especially when you want to reply with something petty & insignificant. Assume that I've moved on (because I have).

The first three specials were at least full with fanservice which was kinda enjoyable. These last three specials are apparently just beatups with no rules. Not enjoyable at all.
