[ooc] Started by Rexyisashark and NightN. Anyone welcome. |
Gunn took three hesitant steps down the street. The squat, ramshackle houses on either side of it looked as if they were going to fall over at any moment. The air smelled of violence and destruction; a gritty mix of sulphur, gunpowder, and smoke. Behind him he could hear a car stall, rev it’s engines and speed away, as well as three gunshots and a scream. Pushing the noise out of his mind, he took another three steps. It was a process well-memorized. He’d done it every week for the past year, and every time he got three steps closer. Reaching his limit for that day, he turned back and walked briskly towards the inner city, a picture of silence and brooding. He was a picture, that was for sure. A tall, dark-skinned man with a permanent scowl and a Starbucks complex. His eyes would watch one person suspiciously until he conclude whether they were a threat or not. Then he would move on to the next, analyze them as well, move one. He had so many processes which he played out; once a week, once a day, once every hour, every minute. Despite his life spiraling downwards, he had forced some structure into it. He felt like, at some point, he would go mad with the effort, but he couldn’t be sure. Often he was teased by his friends for this. They would tell him to lighten up. “Have some fun! Just this once?” But he wasn’t sure he was capable of that any longer, so he pushed these people away and sat instead with his no-fat whipped mocha on park benches and people watched until there were no people left to watch. Every once in a while, he had a good day. He would smile at a stranger, and they would frown back at him and send it right back into a bad day. That day had started out a good day. He’d gotten his Starbucks coffee, as usual, while two employees bickered over who was going to get a raise. Next, he’d scouted, checking for disturbances around his area. Thankfully, nothing. And then it was time to go back to that neighborhood. He was so close, but still a block away, at least. Then he’d turned back, his good day gone bad, and retreated to the park to resume people watching with a frown on his thick lips. [ooc] I might bring in another character or two if I'm feeling up to it later. |
