Her mother is not very nice to him for no good reason either, it's not like he isn't a good kid, she should be happy he is tutoring her daughter and helping look for her.
I don't think she thought about what anything could mean.... she attracted quite a crowd, unfortunately for our mc she's met up with her hero.

This is really good. From their parents, I can see why they grew up that way.
Wakatake's mom wants her kid to be normal and make friends, but when comes to times when his friend is in trouble she tells him not to interfere. She wants him to be social, but when he builds relationships, she tells him he cannot go further. Early in the manga he was mad when she told to take it easy on studying. He probably doesn't understand it himself, but he may be angry at the mixed message.

Wakatake's dad is probably the saving grace of the family. True, he didn't proactively make up for the mixed messages his wife gives their son, but when Wakatake finally made deeper connections with others, he held his wife back and let his son go.

Kagetora

Kagetora's mom is hurtful towards her daughter. Perhaps her husband is irresponsible or does not love her. And that is why she does not want her daughter with a boy who may also hurt her. At the same time, she lowers the worth of her daughter by telling others her daughter is not worth their care. Perhaps Kagetora's mom also feels worthless because a failed marriage and she has transferred that feeling onto her daughter. Kagetora's mom looks like an unloved wife who has to carry the weight of the family. She has a strong appearance, so she is probably able to support the family financially. But because Kagetora's mom is not loved by her husband, she is emotionally hurt herself, weak in that aspect, so she nothing to offer her children emotionally. She has no room in her heart to consider her children's feelings. In addition, her children are her reason for living, but also the children of the man who as makes her life miserable. This makes it very hard to show love to her children. To make up for her inability to offer emotional support, she send them to a girl's school . Kagetora's mom's actions are out of desperation, not hate or pride.

This is all speculation of course.
