FUNDRAISING IDEAS + PLANS~!

OMG i needed a place to put all my ideas because they're just lingering around in my head and it'll haunt me unless i type them down somewhere!!

OKAAAY! We won't have a fund raising discussion in the club until December 17th 2008. But it's always good to think ahead so we actually have something to discuss, right?

Fundraising will begin RIGHT when January starts. We'll most likely begin with the doughnut sale since it's simple and profitable.

PURPOSE FOR FUNDRAISING: Raise enough money to attend Otakon for free.
We'll also use this money to cover prizes and any snacks like pizza and parties and stuff.

GOAL AMOUNT: 1100$.
This will cover 20 people to go to otakon for free of charge. I understand that there's like... 40 people in the club but we have to reduce it to 20 people. The 6 founders will go to Otakon automatically for free, which means we'll cover 14 other members for free. To choose these 14 other members, we'll have them write an essay about their passion for anime and only the most DEDICATED and PASSIONATE will be allowed to go to Otakon for free. But keep in mind, I'm only assuming we only raise 1100$. If we can raise even more, that'd be freakin amazing.

IDEAS

Fundraiser: Doughnut Sale*done*
Dates: Tuesday and Thursdays in January, MAYBE February
Amount Sold: 34 doughnuts per sale. 1$ per Doughnut.
17 donuts cost $4.50
Profit Per Sale: 30$, 60$ per week
Predicted Profit: 240$$
Explanation: Doughnut sales ACTUALLY work. Tried it last year, we made about 200$ in my entrepreneur class. It's really simple, really easy, really quick, and we get a LOT of money. If we execute this successfully, the cost of Otakon will be reduced to 43$ [which sorta beats 55$]

Done!! We made 220$ from selling for 11 days!

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Fundraiser: Pizza Sale
Dates: Throughout February and maybe March
We'll use Pizza Huts 3 boxes for $15 deal.
Amount Sold: let's ASSUME we can slice the pizza to 12 slices. So that's 36 per sale.
Earned Per Sale: 36$$ - 15$$ = 21$ per sale. If we sell for 2 days, that's 42$ a week. If we sell for 3 days a week, that's 63$$. We can TRY to aim for 5 days a week, that'd be 105$ a week. But i don't think we're allowed to...
Predicted Amount Earned by end of sale:
3 boxes per sale [36 slices]...
2 days a week for 1 month: $168
3 days a week for 1 month: $252
5 days a week for 1 month: $420 [i don't think we're allowed to sell everyday...]

6 boxes per sale [72 slices]...
2 days a week for 1 month: $336
3 days a week for 1 month: $504
5 days a week for 1 month: $840 [i don't think we're allowed to sell everyday...]

please correct me if i calculated this all wrong...

Explanation: Because it's an amazing fundraiser. But this is just assuming if we can cut the slices into 12 slices. I think 12 slices is too small... but i wouldn't know, i don't know the size of the pizza box. If we could cut the slices into 15 pieces, that'd be AMAZING. But I'd say the minimum amount of slices is 10 per box. Of course, I can call and ask pizza hut how many slices are in each box. We'll need 2 people who are willing to skip out 7th PD to set up and retrieve the pizza...someone who is willing to order Pizza during class during 6th pd...
But yeah, this idea is totally out there, but it's a lot of work which is why i don't want to start until February.

CANCELED for the following reasons

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Fundraiser: Candy Sale *done*
Dates: February 26th through March 25th
Profit: 30 bars for 12$, 18$ a box
Explanation: This is an extremely easy fundraiser :P I like it cause it doesn't require people to wake up at 6:00 in the morning to pick up doughnuts, we don't have to bother Mr. Fitz about selling with us, and candy doesn't cost that much :P We'll do what the ambassadors, honors society, and track are doing with the candy sale. By candy in stock at Costco, put them in zip lock bags and selll them for a dollar :P I still gotta look into the price of candy at costco [if anyone is willing to help out by looking into that, i'd love you forever]. With all that said, this is a fundraiser that we'll DEFIANTLY do.
Done!! We made 140$, but people still owe us money. When we get all that money, we'll have $180.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Fundraiser: Game Tournament Event *done*
Dates: March 25th, 2008
Profit: Unknown
Explanation: All discussion for the Game Tournament can be made Right hurrr
Done!! We made 442$ [when we deduct the cash prize and cost of pizza!]

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Fundraiser: Photoshoot
Dates: Sometime in April during lunch.
Profit: 100% Profit
Explanation: Basically using the Promethian Board, we pull up pretty backgrounds with the projector, grab a professional camera and take like...3 shots of people for a $1. Limit is 5 people at a time. The quality SHOULD come out something like the photorama place... RAWR i'd show an example but i don't have one. People can order prints of their picture for an extra $1. [prints are like...10 cents, so we're not loosing any money at all]. If they dont' order prints, the pictures will be uploaded on our website OR flickr.com

Advertisement: I think the timing is PERFECT because it's the end of the year, everyone wants fancy photos with their friends. We can even put stuff like "Class of 2009" on it or somethin... People will put their pictures on their facebook profiles and their friends will be like OMG where'd you get that taken at?? ...Right there, my friends, is effortless advertisement. And trust me, Jess and I will advertise it SO well and make it look REALLY hot.

Success Rate: It's REALLY hard for me to predict the outcome of this fundraiser cuz I have no idea if it'll be successful or not because NO ONE has attempted it. There's no money to invest, so it doesn't hurt us one bit to attempt this fundraiser[besides wasting time...]. We'll at least get SOME money out of it, so I don't see why not TRY to attempt it. We can also allow people to order prints for another $1.

Testing + Set Up: I'd probably have to test how my camera and the prometian board comes out. Even if it comes out a bit distorted... we have paintshop and photoshop *bows down*. We also need a teacher who isn't very busy during lunch and is willing to let us use their prometian board. Preferably someone on the 1st or 2nd level.. mr.fitz has students in his room during lunch, plus it's pretty crowded >_<;; This fundraiser is pretty difficult to set up, but i think the outcome will be really really good. If it ends up really good, we can even drag it out to May and make even more money.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

If anyone has ANY ideas, don't be afraid to shout them out! I want at least 5 fundraisers, 1 for each month! We'd be making mega money if we stay CONSISTENT with our fundraisers. Also, I need more fundraisers that are a little more anime oriented. If you guys have ideas, please shoot! Try to come up with fundraisers where we DON'T LOOSE MONEY, EVEN IF WE ATTEMPT Otherwise i'm the only one over here doing all the work q_q;;;

OK GREAAAATTTT IDEAS!!!. ^.^
Ok here i begin:

Donuts:
I was going to go talk to dunkin donuts to see if they would give us donuts cheaper then shoppers, but I don’t think that is possible. So, if at shoppers 17- 20 donuts is 4.50$ we might be able to get two boxes of 17-20 and sell in the morning, I think that we would run out, and if we don’t we always sell it to kids in our classes. We could probably do this twice a week for two or four weeks max, people will get tired of it. I am willing to go pick up the donuts in the morning if need be—but just wondering because my dad will ask- if he pays out of his pocket for the donuts, will he be reimbursed?
Personally I think selling it for $1 ea might be much, but I don’t know, it may work. Maybe we could make it 2 donuts $1…but you guys would be best deciding that.

Pizza Sale
We should do this in March and end of Feb. because I had another idea for the beginning Feb. We might be able to ask pizza hut to give us a price reduction because we will be buying a lot of pizzas. 12 slices per box would make the slices REALLY small and no one will pay $1 for that. How many slices are in there any way? 8? Maybe we could jus slice the big slices in half…if there are any big slices. Pizza hut is stingy and cheap…And we could do it for March and longer if we need to do it. When is Otakon anyway? When would we do this? After school? Lunch? Delivery? When would we call? I could call if needed; maybe Lisa and I could meet some where…2nd pd or 4th pd. I feel that we should let pizza hut know beforehand…like some of us should actually go to pizza hut and talk to a mgr in person so they know what we are doing—we can tell them that we are doing a fundraiser, that we will be buying from them for a month and half, ask for price reduction, and let them know what time to deliver the pizza…that would be best actually.

photo shoot
Personally I don’t think a ton of people are going to come. If talk to our friends we could get a lot of people, but the thing about the promethean board is that it's so bright that there is a glare—but Photoshop I guess…I don’t really know…bout this…this could be fun…trial run and all. Ill support you all as much as you need me to.

New idea

Flower sales in February before Valentine’s Day. I bouquet of roses/flowers at the dollar store is $1 and we can sell a single stem for 25 or 50 cents. And entire bouquet between 1.25 – 2.00. Real flower bouquets are between 4-9 dollars, I am not sure what the exact price would be at shoppers, I think there is maybe (not sure) between 9-12 stems. We could sell them for between 1-2 dollars. W3e will have to come up with specifics when the time comes closer.

So that’s what I am thinking, please let me know what’s going on and what your thoughts are. Let me know what I can do, I am more than happy to help.

no one cares about your ideas, sergio.

jk jk

Sadly, if we were to do a candy cane sale it'd be too late because we need to run any fundraisers by the business office and it takes about a week to get approved q_q;
... and how would an eating/drinking contest work o.o?

and thank you so so much renee for contributing =^-^=~~

by the way, next week i'm going to start a fundraising committee. that way we have a group of people who'll be dedicated to fundraising~

By the way, Otakon is July 17th. Yes, it's over the summer... but it's the biggest anime convention in Maryland. We can even attempt some fundraisers over the summer XD; There's Katsukon, but it's not as big and it's in February...that doesn't work out for us one bit. And there's Costume Con in May, but that's 100$ ...it's not even as big as otakon... so that's a hell no >_>;

Donuts
Don't worry; Jon is volunteering to invest 5 bucks to pay for donuts. Once we sell our donuts, we use the money we earn from selling to purchase donuts for the next day. If you're getting the donuts, we'll supply you with the money :D But if your dad happens to pay money from his pocket, we'll definitely pay him back. Thank you so much for offering to pick up the donuts! I think in our next meeting, we'll decide whether to go with Shoppers or Dunken donuts with the fundraising committee~

Pizza
We'd defiantly do this after school... omg this just occurred to me. i think February is the best time to do pizza because the drama dorks are doing dream girls and chances are they want food and don't want to walk all the way to mcdonalds to get some. there are sports going on in february too i believe. Dude, if we can do the flower sale and pizza sale at the same time we'd be making bangin money but i'm not totally sure if we're allowed to...

Flower Sale
I love this idea x3 It'd be so cute carrying around flowers and selling them, and I've never seen anyone try this before. My only concern is with real flowers and how long they live for... and we'd probably only be doing this sale for about 2 weeks. We could MAYBE deliver flowers for people on valentines day, but theres already candy grams...and delivering flowers to people is a real bitch to do...but the idea is out there ^^

kya~ i can't wait to start the fundraising committee and having big group discussions x3

Haha, that's great that you guys want to do a fundraiser. It's important for club to do so. I like all the food sale. If you guys want a more anime oriented fundraiser, I think I can think some at the top of my head

Game booth/Contest
This does not cost much. Just borrow people game console and tv and borrow/steal a room at school. Like, the entry can cost maybe 3 dollar and everything inside the room is free to play. Have a little contest and maybe (no need to) have a lil prize that will not hurt the money earned. I know half the club member come to anime club to play games. So might as well abuse it xD Ha Ha!

I know there's alot of great artist at the anime club. we can probably make sticker or mini prints (since they don't cost much) and sell them for a dollar each. niffy. I'm not sure if it will be effective, but it try.

Okay, i suck since I can't think anymore than that. LOL~ well anyway. I would gladly help you guys do the fundraiser~

That idea would probably not work. Chains like that only offer that kind of fundraising to large groups like schools, ect...

If you guys need help, I'd be glad to help. It's 2nd semester so I don't really care about school anymore, well... not that I really did in the first place :]

Maybe a STarcraft tourney? :]
Well, it doesn't have to be SC, it can be anything. but just get people to pay, and give like 30/40% of the admissions to the 1st place winner. If it's a starcraft tourney, then I can help out. I've held tournaments to up to 30 ppl before.
Guitar Hero also sounds like a good game to use.

how typical of a korean to suggest a starcraft tourney XD

hmmm maybe halo? or guitar hero :P aaaand a 2-4$ fee? we could use like a big screen in the cafeteria [if that's possible/allowed o_o;].

i don't mind giving 50$ to the winner if a lot of people are going.
IF a lot of people are going...

Alright you guys, new fundraisers have been added! The fundraisers that are listed on the first post are FINALIZED and we WILL take action to start them as soon as possible~!

As far as the game tournament goes, i'm going to start a new thread about it because this event takes a lot more discussion than any other fundraisers

i've tried this fundraiser with another restaurant... and the problem was, there wasn't enough people who came so they didn't even bother to give us any money back after all that work. so i'm not sure if i'm up for taking that risk again. Plus, with all the fundraisers that we have planned out, we'll defiantly have enough money to meet our goal.
