This anime hardly got any advertising. The trailer that was released online was almost the same as the day the anime aired. The trailer did not even tell much what the anime was really all about. MAL labeled it as action but it was more of a slice of life seinen action with lots of comedy drama. So far, the anime is rated #1435 here on MAL.

From what I have observed, most anime that is rated #1000+ rarely climbs up the ladder to success. Although, the anime Gin no Saji climbed up the ladder after the anime was finished. An anime that used to be rated #1000+ is no ranked #293.

The only reason I watched the anime is because it was animated by Manglobe, a company that has its own ups and downs. But usually, whenever the anime isn't too bad, it has a good twist of originality and story organization that would make you want to watch more. Apparently Samumenco is one of those anime that Manglobe did a good job at. And little did I know (I only found out about it a little later in the show), that it was directed by the same person who directed Durarara and Baccano. I personally thought that the organization of the ideas was not that good in his anime but has strong and memorable characters and a cool idea. Not to mention fanservice. But I was surprised how he organized Samumenco so well. Ending the story with a climax and mystery...very well played.

hmmm, i remember trying the first episode and then sort of stopped watching it. Is it a samurai anime, like with swords? Or is it just the name? Cause i like samurai-type anime...

Samurai is just the name in a way but I think it is the philosophy or the words the protagonist lives by. I must say, it represents the modern day samurai of Japan. How their history lives on inside of them. It's basically a story of a hero in the making. It just feels so realistic, how he started from nothing. It doesn't seem forced, it just flows naturally, especially the comedy.

Hmm... Tiger & Bunny much?

Seems that 6 episodes later, people are started to get interesting with Samurai Flamenco in every episode discussion board.

I'm still eager to see Flamenco's new suit as we saw in the opening. Who knows? Since there's NO episode preview of it (is there any spoilers & speculations anywhere?).

That 7th episode is quite a shocker tho. It was a big shift from reality to scifi and fantasy. o.O And I thought the OP thing was his part time acting job.

Well, I won't hold my breath with that for the next episode since Guilty Crown & Psycho-Pass was my last show during the fall season lineup.

I have to say, I've seen 140+ anime, and the first 7 episodes of Samurai Flamenco got it in my top 5. I was smiling from cheek to cheek after each episode, and then episode 7 happened and i havent seen such a plot twist since School Days. This anime is amazing.
