We're currently 8 days out and to my knowledge and I've yet to hear of anyone being whitelisted.

Has any one heard a peep from Xinil?

The Twitter feed for the Unofficial MAL API site seems to say they did: https://twitter.com/sliceoflifer/status/395211403721588736 But see this thread: http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=685567 Where the 5th post down or so says that whitelisted apps still are getting blocked now and then. So I'm not sure it matters.

Personally, I think Incapsula is fatally flawed and can't be worked around.

Hi,

iMAL has been whitelisted. It seems to work fine since I added the custom User-Agent.

I did not get a reply by Xinil though, so I suggest you just try to see if your UA has been whitelisted.

What does your user agent string look like? I PM'd Xinil like 2 weeks ago now with no reply and it's still not working. My user agent looks like this:
'Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.2) AppleWebKit/537.4 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/22.0.1229.94 Safari/537.4 UNIQUE_ID_HERE'

EDIT: I tried making my user agent exactly "UNIQUE_ID" and it seems to work actually.

I'm either doing something wrong or my request hasn't been granted yet (I wrote him 12 days ago). I'm just seeing this when requesting the anime list:
This website is under heavy load
We're sorry, too many people are accessing this website at the same time. We're working on this problem. Please try again later.

I also get this when I manually set my useragent to just the identifier in chrome which suggests that it's the latter.

My requests do timeout fairly often, not sure if you're having the same issue. When my requests were failing from being blocked out I got something about robots back and it failed pretty much instantly. That doesn't sound like your issue though. This tends to happen most often with requesting my list, not as much with other stuff. Although my list is fairly long so maybe that's why.

EDIT: I just noticed that's the message you get on the UNOFFICIAL API. The whitelisting is to access myanimelist.net, not the unofficial API. If you're getting the heavy load on there it's completely unrelated to whitelisting. You don't need to be whitelisted for that at all.

thanks for the reply, that is "good" to know :). Xinil's posting and this group is for the unofficial api so I figured the request gets filtered beforehand with the UID :/.

Do we know what's the status of unofficial API? Has it been whitelisted already and the problems are unrelated?
I've sent a request to whitelist my own user agent but I still get the incapsula stuff when I use it. Should I specify some more info in my header? Or does it just mean that I'm not whitelisted?

I'm using PHP, here's the code for setting the user agent:
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_USERAGENT, 'UNIQUE_ID');

You'd replace "UNIQUE_ID" with whatever you sent to xinil. If you're still getting something about robots back in the response then you're probably not white-listed yet. If you're just trying to use the unofficial API then you'll have to wait for the person managing that to fix whatever problems they're having. I was originally using the unofficial API but after having various issues with it I just decided to build my own code to scrape MAL, so if they have problems I don't have to wait for them to fix it.

so it got whitelisted? but I don't really get any results while using it.

http://mal-api.com/anime/search?q=haruhi ... zero results which is the link directly from the docs

or when I try to call an specific anime with the url http://mal-api.com/anime/1887 I get
{"error":"unknown-error","details":"Exception message: Error scraping anime with ID=1887. Original exception: undefined method `[]' for nil:NilClass."} which is quite strange

don't know yet, i started working on my own API a few days ago but can't continue because the whitelisting form isn't accessable anymore. and without whitelisting i can't get the data from the pages.
