This really took the supernatural route now. I'm guessing the end is gonna be messy.

worst episode in the whole season.

they pretty much spent it all repeating the exact same thing...

griffith must stack more bodies to get to where he wants to be.

I fast forwarded through the latter half.

Oh my, this episode was awesome. I've really enjoyed watching the series, especially the later episodes.

I really loved the character design on those four demons and all the symbolism going on in this episode. The female demon was breathtakingly hot, indeed!

I swear: this show has one of the most serious cases of attracting viewers to support and read the manga. It's so serious, that it's literally killing. Anyways, is it my imagination, or has this show been getting rather comedic and epic lately? I mean, it's great that the show has gone back to its original monster-demon-hell-like "Berserk", but...with 20 episodes worth of normal development...this episode is too "artificial" to be true. I cannot take such "trickery". (Does the branding of the guys remind you of FF XIII? No offence to haters, but it does, for me.)

^I agree it is really jarring. It took a looong time to get back to the supernatural stuff with only that beast guy in the dungeon between the first ep and here to keep the thread. Then they go supernatural TO THE MAX!

Good when you get there though.
The problem isnt actually so bad in the films, especially since they're shorter. Watching the series now it seems like there's no plot points missing in the movie adaptations whatsoever, except maybe where Guts has briefly gone swordslinging on his own path. Probably just fewer/shorter battles and angsting over "dreams".*

In the films they even add in the skull knight who warns Guts what's coming that isn't in the series.

*ah yeah they're also missing some more of the palace plots against Griffith but there's enough in them already to give the gist

I feel so bad for Casca. She was really the most loyal to Griffith and in that last moment before he sacrificed everybody, he didn't think of her once.

I'll definitely be reading the manga. This is an incredible story.

Well, next episode is the infamous ending. My body is ready.

Am I the only one who didn't like how they changed the whole show around in the last couple of episodes? I was really really enjoying the story but then it had to get all supernatural. Was hoping it could of just stayed the same (no monsters).

In fact, the same thing happened with Gungrave. Great mafia/gang show and then it turns into a monster anime. Anyhow, still both great shows.

Yeah but the whole anime series wasn't about demons (almost all) but then bang, last couple episodes. I'm not hating on it, just wish they made it non supernatural. I liked how it was the whole series up until the end part.

Did they ever explain why no one ever took Griffith's helmet off? They started to remove it and were all freaked out when they did so. Is it burned onto his head so it can't be removed or something? Is his face just so messed up they don't want to look at it?

they dindt want everyone else to see because it would break what morale they had left. the band is in really bad shape and they need to to cling to whatever little they had left

I guess that makes sense. I just figured it'd be easier to bandage his head along with the rest of his body to cover up the awfulness. Seems pretty uncomfortable to lay there wearing a metal helmet while as physically broken as he was.

the thing is though is that helmet of his is also their symbol. griffith is more than just a man to his people. so at that point it's making the decision of maintaining morale that the hawk still stands or once again showing that the hawk has been layed low.

I'm wondering whether it was his dream or his actual destiny?
That was quite confusing, he said he lost sight of that dream because of Guts but he was still sacrificing men for his cause. To reach a Castle but apparently it wasn't a Castle on land.

What happens now is definitely intriguing. He has gained power he couldn't have imagined but it obviously wont be used for much good. So he truly is a Demon King with an undead army.

It's nice and all to tempt a broken man with his dream (though I'm sure the guy would have accepted without mind intrusion) but I'm missing how becoming a monster will give him his own land. The only gains are physical power above humans and an exchange body.

4/5 Good episode, but it's taking its time far too much considering what's left of the series.
