The First Review Is For Episode 3, We Didn't Use Our Time Wisely Enough To Make Reviews FOr THe First 2.
Even That Being Said, The First 2 Episode's We're More Like Prequels, It Wasn't An Advance Towards Being The World's Best; It's Just Learning To Ride.
The Third Episode Is Where He Actually Joins The Club And Starts Working Towards A Real Goal. The Problem That I Should Adress First Is ... It's A Shounen Sports Anime. Sports Anime's Have From What We've Seen Been Very Good. Be It Major, Initial D, Hajime No Ippo, Slam Dunk, Etc. Problem With Shounen Is It's A Shounen Targeted Towards Young Boys. Not Saying Young Boys Shouldn't Have Shows, Nor Are Shounens Bad; I've Seen Some Good Shounens. It's Just The Premise Of This Show, Is The Tour De France, And Professional Class World Biking. Where I Grew Up, Not A Single Kid Under Even 16 Got A Blood Thrill Out Of Bicycling Or The Tour De France Let Alone. But Every Kid Has There Own Passion.
The Bigger Problem With This Is, Shounen's Are INFAMOUS For One Of 2 Things. Being Targeted At Boys The Main Character Is Either Immature, Dumb, And Lacks ALL Confidence Ever. Or All That Was Just Said BUT Is Loveable, An Infamous Shounen Would Be One Piece. In THis Anime Though, The Main Character At This Point Could Be Done Better, In My Opinion. It's Too Cliche On The I'll Do Anything As Long As It's For Fukazawa, And He Really Needs To Drop The Over Use Of "Bathing Suit".
Aside From That, He Does Seem To Acknowledge The Hidden Strength In Himself, And From The 10 Seconds Of The Tour De France Opening In THe First Episode. He Biked Powerfullly And I Saw Some Real Potential For A Good Main Character, Let's Just Hope This Is A hurdle Of A Bullied Kid, Regaining What He Has Lost And Comes Out A Shining Star.
We Haven't Met Much Other Characters, So Not To Say Much At This Point Except Fukazawa's Brother Is A Little Too Open About His Sister's Breasts. In No Society Should It Be Okay To Jest About You're Sisters Breasts In Open Chatter.
Not Much For Story As i Said The First 2 Episodes Were More Prequel, And THis Episode Was The Stepping Stone Into The Series, So Let's See Where It Goes From Here.
So Let Me Apologize For Reviewing This A Day Late, Aside From That This Episode's Review / Oversite On The Anime Won't Be Too Pleasant. So Let Me Say The Sweet Side Of Things First.
The Opening Song Except For The Male Vocals, To Me, Is Very Catchy And I Throughly Enjoy It.
Alright, Now Onto The Review............................
In No Particular Order, I Will List My THoughts, Nothing Pleasant Too Far.
Firstly I Was Excited To See THis Show As A Sports Anime About Biking, And To My Surprise We've Just Finished The 5th Episode So Just Over 100 Minutes Of Airing Time. In That 100 Minutes, Maybe 5 At Most 10 Were Used To Show Biking. So A Sports Anime About Biking, And So Far Only 1/10th Of The Anime Has Been About Biking ... A Bit Odd ?
With The Above Said, Personally It's More Like A Slice Of Life Anime With THe Main Character Having A Hobby Of Biking.
Don't Even Get Me Started With The Main Character. Let Me Say This. ALL Elephants Are Grey But Not Everything Grey Is An Elephant. Now Let's Think Of Elephants As The Anime Equivalence Of Ouran High School Host Club. Our Main Chcracter Is A 3 Year Old Whiny Baby Who Is Aimed WAY To Much For An Audience Of 5-8 Year Olds, Who Threw On An Ouran High School Host Club Blanket Making It Seem Like he's The "Elephant" But We Can Clearly See He's Not An Elephant.
The Main Protaganist At This Point Is Fukazawa WHo Is ALWAYS Crying About How Much She Hates The Main Character ... Umm If You Hate Him STAY AWAY From Him, All She Does Is Come Onto The Screen To Yell, Hit, Run Away, Emo Corner It, Cry, And Repeat. Seriously.
So That's The Main Failure Of What We've Seen So Far, MAYBE Just MAYBE If They Focus On Biking Now, Lose The Immaturity And Childish Tendancies Our main Character Has, This Show Can Be Saved?
Now This Is Supposed To Be An Episode Review, And I Can Do THis Review In Like 50 Words EASY Or Less.
Episode 5 Review :
It's The Anime Equivalency Of Buying A Yoga DVD, 20 minutes Of Main Character Sitting Up.... That's It, Nothing Else.
