High up on the cliffs, a great storm cloud was forming over the peaks and ridges of the mountains. The storm cloud seemed to solidify, forming and shaping itself into a solid, until there stood a lone wolf. The air rippled throughout the barren crags and rushed throughout the area surrounding the Great Cursed Lake. As he made his way down the cliff and towards the water’s surface, the wolf, Zelphine, was troubled. The lake had changed, and was no longer the way it had once been. Corrupted by the fade, the water was dark, and dangerous to all humans. Zelphine sat down, his blue and white fur flowing in the wind. He was unable to remember a time such a great calamity had befallen the lake and its residents. He walked to the water and looked at its dark black murkiness. How your beauty has faded, he thought to himself. He wondered how his old friend, The Bone Leviathan was doing, now that his home had been invaded by the Fade. As he contemplated, he realized that if the Lake had become effected by the Fade, it was extremely likely that the rest of the island could be effected the same way.
“KAGUYA!” He roared. “Get out here. We have business to attend to.”
Like something out of a dream, the water in the lake began to form a shape. As it did, the darkness of it when back into the lake, leaving a pure solid shape of water, that eventually turned into a dazzling blue and white tiger. The tiger stepped out onto the solid ground, yawning.
“Hello Brother. What do you wish to speak about? I’ve been sleeping for the past 1500 years, and now you wake me? What is so urgent?” Kaguya asked, licking his paws.
“This situation. I sensed it in my dreams. I awoke to see for myself, and the situation is dire. The Fade has never effected reality, until now. Look at the water. We must take precautions. There is no way it would only effect this single area. We must travel to the other parts of En Corvis, and stop this contamination somehow.” Zelphine responded.
Kaguya nodded. He understood. They would have to travel. “Well then, shall we disguise ourselves once more, like we did oh so many years ago?”
Zelphine nodded. Strong air currents rushed around him, while smooth flowing water currents rushed around Kaguya. When the dust had settled and water had evaporated, two young men stood in the places where the wind wolf and the water tiger had once been.
They began to walk. At one moment, they both stopped and turned around for a second, looking back at their home, the lake that was no longer beautiful as it had once been so many years ago.
“Goodbye.. We shall return.” They said, and headed on their way.. |
