| "But there's no way Adam would do anything for Joshua now." |
| "How are we going to tell Adam this? It's easy to see that being a vampire is bad enough but being a demon is even worse." |
| Lucas sighed. "Well for now we'll just make sure he's okay." He glanced at his cousin, who was now sitting up. "What happened?" Adam asked. "I was...he SHOT me! My father shot me." |
| "I should be dead." Adam continued. "Why am I still alive?" |
| He returned her look. 'The truth.' "Y-you did." He said. "I...what?" Adam trailed, confused. "Did you-" "No, I didn't. I thought you were dead for good but you just...weren't. I wish I could tell you more than that." |
| "N-no." Said Adam. "I don't take any medication except for an anti anxiety thing but....I've been taking that for years." "Anti anxiety?" Asked Lucas. "With a dad like mine I need it." Adam replied. "Trust me." |
| "N-no." Adam replied. "Wait...what form is the anxiety medication in?" Asked Josef. "I get a shot...twice a week." |
| "At home usually. Mdad said it was too much trouble to keep going out to the doctor. He only went to refill the prescription every month. Are you saying he put something in it? Like what?" |
| "Well I've always felt better; less all over the place, more energy, I guess even more confident than usual...I know I always suck at my soccer games without it but I just thought it was because of the actual medication...I mean I didn't really have a reason to suspect otherwise..." |
| "S-success? With what?" Adam asked nervously. 'Gwen seems to be freaking him out.' Lucas thought. |
| "Well, I want to know what's going on." Said Adam. "I want to know what he did to me." |
| "What? Demon blood? Is that even possible?!" [Btw, just thought I'd mention this is all basically legit stuff that actually happens in the story I'm writing that Lucas and Josef come from.] |
| "But...I thought...my father wanted to get rid of evil, not create it. I think it goes without saying that demons are far from virtuous." |
| At this, Adam stayed silent, simultaneously shocked and horrified. "All this time I thought he was trying to help me." He said finally. "Really he was just setting me up." |
| "But...I've never even met a demon for real. I don't even know the first thing about what he's turned me into...." |
| "Well, if you had to 'put them down' they were probably pretty destructive." Adam said quietly. |
| "So then this'll drive me out of my mind then?" "No." Said Lucas. "We won't let that happen." |
| "If my father wanted a demon on his side, why did it have be me? Why couldn't he have turned himself into one if he was so keen on the idea?" Adam said miserably. At this point, we hear someone openning the front door downstairs. "Lucas?" Came Alistair's voice. "I know you're here. Decided to ditch me did you?" "Oh shut up would you?" Lucas replied. "Tell the mutt and his girlfriend I say hi!" |
| "I-is that Alistair?" Adam asked. "Unfortunately." Lucas replied. "Although it seems like he doesn't know you're here which is good." |
| 'Alistair hates demons more than anything.' Thought Lucas. 'I can't let him figure out what Adam is.' |
| "Well I can't exactly go home can I?" Adam said. |
| "Maybe....if AListair didn't know Adam was a...well, wasn't a vampire, maybe he'd let him stay here." "Stay HERE?!" Adam exclaimed. "With Alistair Everett?! I'd rather die!" "Sorry to inform you but you've already been there, done that and bought the t shirt cousin." |
| "B-but what if he finds out?" Asked Adam. "He'd kill me." "Not if I had anything to do with it." Said Lucas. |
| "A-are you sure?" "Yeah. Really, you'll be fine." Said Lucas. "....Okay." |
