| So here I'm going to list a few shows. The one I will choose as a beginners anime will be an all around great anime that I feel anybody will enjoy. Then I will list my favorite shows in the following categories: Art/ animation, characters, sound, story, and overall Enjoyment. The same show will not be listed twice. The Ultimate Beginners Anime: Anime Title: Nichijou MAL Link: http://myanimelist.net/anime/10165/Nichijou MAL Score: 8.45 Genre(s): Comedy, School, Slice of Life Rating: PG-13 Description: If you ever loved or love a show like Spongebob Squarepants, Family Guy, The Simpsons, South Park, etc., then you will love this show. Its the same kind of comedy, only taken to the extreme. Since most people like comedy, this is my number one show for beginners because... its hysterical, and its a similar type of comedy to they're probably used to.  Art/ animation: Anime Title: Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica MAL Link: http://myanimelist.net/anime/9756/Mahou_Shoujo_Madoka%E2%98%85Magica MAL Score: 8.69 Genre(s): Drama, Magic, Psychological, Thriller Rating: R - 17+ (violence & profanity) Description: SHAFT WAS HERE [insert every other company name here] IS A LOSER! There's really no contest when it comes to the art in Madoka. The dreamscapes in this anime are stupendous and the frightening nightmarish worlds that appear are undeniably scary. The expansive frontier that the cast is thrown into really delivers the sense of isolation that I believe the staff wanted to present. As for the normal world, SHAFT works it's magic on the buildings and rooms - applying an almost futuristic setting while still within the boundaries of reason. The skyline shots and the pans over wide areas are notably beautiful and quite reminiscent of Ef - a tale of memories (another SHAFT work). With the lure of a peaceful and happy scenario, fleshed out with a goofy looking set of characters, the anime seems so innocent. That is until you watch a little of it. Don't create a predisposition on this anime by it's naive appearance, this is one scary anime. The story is dark, compared to most Mahou Shoujo. It takes all the elements of Mahou Shoujo, chucks them in the trash, and completely rewrites the genre. This is anime covers events like suicide, murder, and death in a serious manner and keeps them believable. There is a heavy amount of psychological elements in this anime, too, I should warn. In congruence, I want to laud how the character's mental states and characterization pushes the plot forward unlike many productions. The psychological aspect is so crucial to the story, that without it, the story would be nonexistent. But honestly, get used to it. Psychological shows rule.
