 This cafe is located on the school grounds, very close to the school. |
| Lucas, Josef and Gwen walk into the cafe. "See, this is nice, isn't it?" Said Josef. "Yeah, cute." |
| "When I smell coffee, all I can think about is too many late nights." "Well, don't sound too excited." Josef replied. "Go sit down." "Yes Dad." Said Lucas, slumping into a chair. |
| Lucas propped his elbow up on the table and stared out the window while Josef went to get food. |
| "Hey." Josef said. "I'm sorry he's being so sour. He's changed a lot since before. No surprise I mean...finding out that the monsters under the bed even exist is scary enough. No-no offence I mean." |
| "Well, not the reunion I was hoping for if that's what you mean. Still, it's good enough just seeing him again. I don't really blame him; it sounds like he's been through bad times." |
| Josef took their food and started back to the table. "I think he needed a bit of a wakeup call." |
| Lucas looked up as the two sat down and Josef placed a mug down on the table beside him. "For you, if you want it." He said. Lucas stared at his brother. "What? It's the school's cafe; they're used to selling...unconventional things." Lucas looked at the mug and screwed up his face. "It smells like it came out of a hospital bag." "It probably did." |
| "All right you have it then." Lucas replied, sliding the mug over to her. "Cause I'm not touching it." "I can't believe this. How could there be such a thing as a sober vampire?" "I never said sober. I just won't drink that." |
| Lucas sighed. "She's right, you know." Josef said. "It'll just take some getting used to, that's all." |
| "I'm still going to have to say no." Lucas replied, pushing the mug farther towards Gwen. "Go on, you have it. Don't be wasteful. Someone must have had to eat a lot of donuts to get their blood sugar back up after this wonderfully generous donation." Josef sighed, defeated. |
| "Sure you will sweetheart." "Sweetheart?" Lucas shrugged. "Thought it would bug you; mission accomplished." He grinned. |
| "We're arguing about drinking bagged piss not fighting an army or something." Lucas replied. "There's nothing that really very patronizing about that." "Can you two stop going at each other for five minutes?" |
| Josef glanced at Lucas, who shrugged. "Whatever." |
| "Well this is fun." Josef said exhaustedly. "We have a werewolf, his vampire brother with a fuck-the-world attitude, and another vampire who hates him." Lucas didn't reply; instead he looked back out the window silently. |
| "The feeling's mutual." Lucas commented. |
| "Ah well...a little bit. Changing outside of the full moon is always more painful, so yeah this time was better." "You changed outside of the full moon?" Lucas asked, surprised. "What on earth would have triggered that?" |
| "I don't know what may have made me change outside of the full moon. I didn't mean to, so it's not the same as being able to control it...." Josef trailed off. "Well this is great. If you're going to start changing randomly then that could be really dangerous." |
| "I guess that true." Lucas agreed. "Well, we shouldn't worry about that, I mean I'm not wolfing out again until next month so..." |
| "Yeah, don't sound too surprised." |
| Lucas sighed. His gaze drifted around the street outside. |
| "Buttercup? I was already close to gagging once today." Josef laughed slightly. |
| "Right." Lucas replied. |
| "You remind me of a non homicidal version of my girlfriend." |
| "Well you have some attitude and she did kill me so...just truth." |
| "Lucas." Said Josef, elbowing him. "Uh sorry." |
