Can all of you attend the hallway decoration on October 20th?
We especially need Zaq, Allyson, and Angie to bring their cameras.

I will be there. I'll take lots of pictures too! But we don't even know what idea we're going to use for the hallway yet. Are we going to announce this at the next meeting?

I will be there as well. Is there anything else we should bring, other than Zaq, Allyson, and Angie bringing their respective cameras?

We are suppose to discuss and make hallway decorations this week. Apparently, there's a popular idea going around where we do a chronological progression of anime. The "road trip" could be like a timeline.

Since there seems to be 2 officers in all 4 groups, do you all want to have each group take a different part of the timeline?

You say popular, but its really the only idea you've heard about Katie haha.

I have another idea that my group came up with and its drawing anime characters literally going on road trips to popular destinations in America like the Statue of Liberty and kinda be tourists. I think this idea is better considering the timeline of anime and manga is like Astro Boy, then, Samurai X and Dragonball, then Sailor Moon and Pokemon, and then the huge boom of Naruto/Bleach/One Piece & other recent popular manga/anime. Basically, we are going to have a huge clump of characters in the end and sparse amounts of characters at the beginning. Plus it's not really "American", and we have so many resources and artistic talent to pull from, so we should use it.

The idea of a timeline sounds great, but after thinking about it, I just don't think it's the best.

I've only heard of two ideas. One would be the "Timeline Roadtrip of Anime" and the other is a literal "Anime Roadtrip".

Personally, I don't like the idea of a "Timeline Roadtrip of Anime" at all. First of all, the anime timeline isn't that neat and pretty. Like our lovely Yume here has pointed out (hahaha), an anime timeline is really uneven and would not look visually appealing. There would be a couple of time periods where only one character would be standing by himself. You can't really do anything roadtrip themed with a character standing by himself. Then when you get to the present time period, there would be way too many characters jumbled in that one spot. I think that would just look messy. Finally, the timeline idea has been recently used. Last year there was student council's scary movie timeline and the drill team's dancing through the ages timeline. If we do a timeline as well, the idea just doesn't look fresh, and I think we all want to win the contest in hall decorating (even if it's just a slight want). Therefore, let's not do the same thing as the clubs last year. All of these points combined just make me really not for the timeline idea.

The other idea of a literal "Anime Roadtrip", on the other hand, is something we could really have fun with and be creative. We could have anime characters riding past notable landmarks in stuffed, packed cars with some leaning out the window to take pictures, others all annoyed and uncomfortable being shoved against the window. Other characters could be doing other fun tourist activities. Some of the characters who like to eat could be eating pizza and hot dogs or why not all that fried galore at the state fair. Picture Luffy using his rubber powers and propelling himself on top of the Statue of Liberty or Totoro marching around with an American flag (way too cute with Pikachu following behind him). Somebody could be bungee jumping or some characters could be looking down the Grand Canyon all stunned or scared of heights maybe? There's a lot of things we could do with this. This idea doesn't have any limitations either, so I think it would be best.

Of course, we'll have to let other members of the club voice their opinion on ideas as well. We should ask them for ideas this week, mentioning the two we have right now and the pros and cons of each. Also, if we want to be successful with this whole hall decorating, we shouldn't say, "If you can come, please come." Yeah, that's polite and all, but we actually need people. We have to stress that this is important not something that's just a fun activity to do in some optional free time. I think we should tell our members, "We really need as many artists and people willing to help as possible to be successful with the hall decorations, so please come unless it is not possible for you because of your schedule."

This is just what I personally think. What about everyone else?

The literal Anime Roadtrip seems really cool to me: tossing two cultures around in such a manner that fits the theme. Plus, if we stick to well known characters and landmarks, it would be very clear what was occuring in the pictures even to people who are unfamiliar with anime.

My apologize - I heard it was popular. The only other idea I heard was Kubo's where we put them in a Chinatown, but yes I like the idea of the literal Anime Road Trip. The idea of the groups working on separate parts of the project was for all ideas.

We are all suppose to work on the hallway decorations this Tuesday, and on the extra day, emphasize that we need all to join.

Which also brings the question: If we have 4 groups, then how many landmarks should each group make?

One landmark minimum per group sounds fair, but how large is our section of hallway? Plus, every group's contributions probably will not be consistant in size (e.g. Statue of Liberty is tall, but Mt. Rushmore is both tall and wide), so it is not easy to predict how many landmarks a group will be able to create depending on which landmarks they choose or are assigned to. Should we just assign a certain section of hallway to each group and let them decide how many landmarks they want to, or are able to, fit on it?

I think we need to make a little blueprint first. What goes where, how we want to transition from one landmark to the other, approximate sizing for each landmark or activity. Then after that, we can split it up among the different groups. I doesn't have to be an exact miniature copy of what we're going to be doing in the hallway, but we need to have an idea of where we're going before we let different groups just go off and work on things by themselves.

Awesome that you guys are liking the literal Anime roadtrip idea!

Yeah let's plan a little on Tuesday, and then on the day we actually draw it, we could always add stuff to blanker areas.

Sooooo, when do you plan to get all the decorations made?

Also, when are you planning to put them up in the hall? We can do it after school on Friday, or on Saturday, BUT we are required to have an adviser present (that would be me) and I'm busy Saturday morning. I could get there by 2, which would give us two hours. I think we should do as much as possible Friday afternoon.

Also, are any supplies needed? Paper? Paint? I have plenty of tape already.

I'm thinking we need to get all the decorations done on Friday with just a few last minute touch ups and add ons for Saturday. We'll have to work really hard at tomorrow's meeting to get a good blueprint ready for Friday afternoon.

As for paper, what color should we get? I think white would be too much we have to color in, but a dark color wouldn't look to good with the characters on them. Umm... I think we should use light blue paper for the background since we need a sky on our roadtrip (hahaha). Then we'll need a bunch of white paper to draw parts to glue onto the light blue paper. As for paints, we'll need at least the basic primary colors plus white.

Does this sound good? Is there anything else? We really should have an officer meeting this week to get all these supplies sorted out and bought before Friday afternoon.

That all sounds really good to me. Also, we only have to decorate as much of the 160 hall as we want, not the entire thing.

Yes, if we can do it. We need to do as much as possible Friday after school. I cannot be there until 2 on Saturday and the club MUST have their sponsor present to work. If you can get another adult to stand in for me, then you cold start earlier.

Instructions from Ms. Keyes:
DOs

· Do your best to make the hallway special for all of the students.

· Do put the names of the students from the list we give you up in your hall in some way.

· Do clean up thoroughly after the decorating...AND TAKE YOUR TRASH TO THE DUMPSTER.

· Do organize a clean-up on Friday, October 26th after school.

· Do have students go by your hallway during the week to make sure everything is still hanging. J

· Do have an adult advisor present during all of the decorating.

DON’Ts

· Don’t use trash bags to line the hall because they are too flammable.

· Don’t cover the non-tiled area of the wall.

· Don’t leave a mess.

· Don’t cover the lights with any opaque material.

· Don’t be afraid to work with another organization.

· Don’t be afraid to go all out and make a huge impression. J

So yes, I think it'll be fine to hang the origami. And I have the list of student names we're supposed to put up.

I have an idea for tomorrow! We could still make those landmarks (statue of liberty, Yellowstone, golden gate bridge, las Vegas, empire state building, white house, disney land, etc) by having good artists draw them with black sharpy on every other white strip.

It would be like walking down a hall of fame movie posters. Or more importantly it could look like japanese ink art. If each white strip or every other white strip had one landmark with an anime character in it with just sharpy. Of course there could be problems if we mess up, but the beauty of it is that we can just cut out another 6 ft white strip and redo it. And if we really wanted to, we could do it with color, but that would take too much time. On the pink or orange spaces, we could attach those anime wallpaper and japanese lettering.
