THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Ok, I saw this RAW. I just have one comment: I HAD TO GO OUT TO DRINK OR HAVE A SMOKE AFTER THE RAPE SCENE. That scene where those piece of shits, I am saying it like that cause these rebels that want the dojo are worth even lower than that, kill the husband and rape/kill the wife made JUST SNAP SNAP SNAP ROOAAAARRR! I could not take it. I don't know about how the manga shows it but with the music that scene pissed me off! Next episode I really want to see at least one of those guys death! I really lost it and anime like that is rare to trigger such emotion in me, such rage, I really felt like going there and use some void magic to blow all of them into flesh & bones. Sorry everyone but I really hate these ass*****. I'll be back after the subbed version but do look forward to #3 where the action will start big time.

Now I know not to watch episode two around my mom. God knows I don't want to go into that conversation of "hay what's happening there?"

Anyone know when subs'll be out?

Let's hope between 24hrs to 72hrs after initial time that the RAW episode is available depending on region of your time when you can get it.

I've also only seen the raw, so I'm kind of waiting to give a full opinion. But I kind of felt like this was much more rushed than the manga. It just felt like, hey, here's the background you need to know, let's send the main characters off on their journey now, k?

Also, the music they played toward the end during the family murder I felt was terrible. I laughed out loud at it.

The first episode was still somewhat captivating, but the second was quite crappy imo in comparison to the original. The opening song is nice, but I don't understand the meaning of the modern city screens. I like the OST, but it's too overwhelming.
I'll continue watching it, but it isn't really good. Why the hell did Samura pick Bee Train?

Well it's okay imo, but the pacing seems so slow, considering the manga.. they will have to make another season with current pacing.
The music, well, feels out of place sometimes but then in another scene it's spot on.

I'll keep watching the series, it's okay to me

Worst soundtrack of 2008. Probably the decade.

Definitely feels like Koichi Mashimo directing, thanks to the soul-crushing pace helped by the old age pensioner manning the camera.

Saw the subbed version :D . Have to say this series starts to interest me after watching this first episode ... Review of the episode :
Background story good , it put the " why ? " at his place and left me wanting to see them bad guys getting slaughterd asap .
Animation its not that bad , i've seen worst and even so it gives a realistic air .
Sound ... here i can say the sound is realy good ... like at least 9/10 ... didnt realy watch the opening and ending ( since usualy they contain spoilers and i watch them midseries or somewhat @ there ) but the music was realy good at tauching scenes .
As for the characters they seem intersting so far and im eager to find out more on their background and as well what their going to do from now on ...
So ... long story short . interesting episode that got me to keep watching this series ^^ .

The music is strange, since it's Kou Ootani composing it he would have no problem doing better than that so I wonder why it's not that good :o

This second episode was Koichi Mashimo paced (awfully slow) and some scenes felt out of place too, which is quite a letdown compared to the first episode which I found interesting... Hmmm I guess I'll watch more since it's still a decent anime and I know exactly what to expect from Bee Train/Mashimo.

In every age, in every place, the deeds of men remain the same.

The first half of the episode was all over the place, and once again there are appearances by characters that don't belong in the initial episodes. The soundtrack does seem out of place, and the fight scenes have been watered down. However, the Op is great.

This is a disappointment, but I'll keep watching because I love the manga.

This episode felt like an improvement from the first. At least the story was more comprehensible: the first ep felt like it was just going all over the place for no reason. It was still a little confusing, like what was a flashback and what was currently happening.
I like the soundtrack, but it is different so I can see people disliking it. I also liked that the rape scene wasn't gratuitous: the opening made it seem like they'd be taking every oppourtunity to show fanservice.
Overall, an improvement from the first ep but still could be better.

Ya this was more improved from the first ep. Even though it's far from being as good as the manga this ep was pretty decent. The rape seen was far shorter then in the manga which is a good thing. I always hated that part of the manga.

Just because its more coherent doesnt mean the quality has gone up, I mean its directed just like Mashimo's other stuff, there's no life in this show, just like there's no life, nothing distinctive in .Hack/Sign or Noir or anything else that bastard's been involved with. The way each scene is staged and the way the camera moves makes me feel like I'm watching a wildlife documentary on snails, its pathetic.

At this point I'm more aggravated over this guy than I am over Bee Train, because at least the animation looks watchable, if mundane.

The pacing felt weird.

But I really just have to express how much the music annoys me. It's so painful to listen to, honestly.

I really have no relevant comment about this episode.... can't really tell if it was good or bad... but e___e... those b@st@rds.... they can't just barge in and kill the husband right in front of his daughter and wife and then rape the wife and kill her T_T... that is sick and WRONG T~T

I'm still looking forward to episode three though ^^

Sig WILL change soon~

The music definately is weird.....and yes compared to the manga it felt kinda rushed.

I just hope that they spend more time characterizing Anotsu & Magatsu....but I don't know how they will manage to do that in just 13 episdoes.

It was okay.
The manga is a masterpiece while the anime barely passes the mediocre mark right now.
Maybe it'll pick up, who knows but hate them for making it appear so terribly boring with all the gore and violence cut. And heck, they made the creepiest villain sound like a sissy. Wtf, Bee Train?!

Slightly better than the previous one but still on verge of dropping...We need some good, new samurai anime. This one doesn't hit the mark.

13 episodes isn't enough to make Blade a good anime,
i'm reading the manga and its great, but i found th anime very poor,
the soundtrack doesn't match the atmosphere of the anime...
and yes... they are rushing a lot....

it was handled with more more subtlety in the manga, and it sure wasn't as frustrating as the anime shows it.
Started watching it...Have a feeling that its going to turn out to be another classic manga-rape...

i'm a bit confused by the changes in the chronology of the story. i mean, some events are in a different order than the manga, aren't they? i'm not hoping for a great adaptation because this is 13 episodes and the manga is like, 270 chapters, but, damn, how are they gonna flesh the characters out like this? it's a bit messy, if you think about it. too much time is spent on useless scenes and then when we have the good parts and characters it all seems so rushed.

another thing that got me confused was anotsu's backstory. wasn't his grandfather the heir of the mutenichi dojo? as far as i remember, that was one of the reasons he got so pissed off when he was thrown out by his own family. but i don't really remember that part that well, i could be wrong...

but i'm starting to like the mood of this. the music is really weird, and a bit of a hit or miss, but it gives the series such an interesting vibe... (specially when it doesn't sound like love hotel music on the most inappropriate moments). and the art is good. i actually think rin is more beautiful in the anime than in the manga. too bad i still don't like her, meh. (anotsu's like a god too. i really like his design...)

Omg i can't believe they'd just show something so horrible and unforgivable in an anime!! Truly disgusting- people like that just deserve to die. Sorry, but that just made me so fucking angry- i mean, what kind of soul-less monster just goes out and does something so vile and reprehensible as styling thier hair like a fucking hedgehog?

Disgusting.

Big improvement over the last episode, but still pretty mid
- This opening is dogshit
- We got to see the backstory of the main villain, and started the plot. (Though the latter should have happened an episode ago)
- Damn, that r scene was hard to watch
- Oof, Manji is a bit traumatised
- The OST is good. And so is the ending.
