I mostly play with my Keyboard, since I tend to forget my dancepad at my friends place when we play. Well, as for difficulty I play anything. But only when I have warmed up.

Too bad I haven't been playing so actively recently, so I guess I'm kind of bad on SM T_T

DDR 7-8 foot usually. I can play 9-10 but that's only if I know the song. 7-8 I can probably do on my first try. That's using a pad.

Keyboard and controller I can do 9-10 but still have trouble with the hard hard songs. o.O;;

lol the wtf response that I keep getting from people is funny. Seriously, it's kind of fun to play stepmania with joystick. It can even be considered a method of bodybuilding lol. I swear that muscle on my right arm got bigger after a month of it. lol

Well joystick uses the same usb human interface thing so I guess it is possible =). Though it must be really tough to do two direction left and right at the same time ^^.

Just a question out of curiosity, but do any of you play on solo (6 arrows) or double (8 arrows)? I only see people play on single (4 arrows) so I was starting to think if people would just abandon the other two. I actually find solo to be easier than single.

Awesome. I'm actually a member of ODI. It's good to see that our stuff is being spread around the simfile community.

ODI - is that Otakus Dream or something completely different?

ODI is something completely different from Otakus Dream. Their songs are crazy, and so are their steps. High quality simfiles if you compare them to Otakus Dream tbh.

And then again I think OD makes pretty good simfiles. ._.

i now just play whatever because there are an extremely small number of songs that i cant beat, and after a certain point ratings stop mattering, cuz many smfile makers rate differently and a 14 to one is like a 17 to another and i've beaten songs over 20 and failed a 1

I usually play 11s and 12s. At that point though, it's up to the simfile creator to determine difficulty; the game only goes up to 10. I've seen insanely difficult 9s that I have trouble getting AA compared to songs that are "12" that I can AAA half the time.

What's amusing to note is that the game gives max 300 a rating of 10.4 feet, whereas a song like disregard (16th note stream at 300 BPM) gets a high 9 (you have to go into the edit/sync and look up the game's difficulty for the song).

In ITG terms, I play generally 10s to lower 12s. In DDR terms, anything that isn't Paranoia Hades. In Stepmania terms, anything that's fun and something that I can improve with.

you guys should play the team dragonforce pack.

Dragonforce Pack
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?5dzt0oiqjqn

Fort Rapids 4: Open Source Dance Simulation Game Tournament (v3: FINAL)
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2499SMWG

probably some of hardest songs to beat on pad.

Depends on the pack, but for most of my packs (Otaku's Dream), I can do 10's pretty easily, as well as most 11's and some 12's. I think the highest ranked song I've beaten was 13 or 14, but I remember it being pretty over-rated (can't remember the exact song, though). On keyboard, of course.

As for a pad, I don't have one, but on actual DDR I can do fine at around 8.

Well, as kaiten states, difficulty is really really subjective to both the author and the player. I can "beat" most regular songs (I've AA'd Chaosmaid, which is a 6 by DC/Xoon standards and I think a 12 by current OD standards), although I have trouble passing retarded dumps like in Mina Minimegapack (I can almost pass Apetenodytes Disco Type 4.0 now though :D).
