I've only seen the anime. But I want to read the manga because of the anime. So even if I think the manga is outstanding, the anime will hold that special place in my heart as being better just because it introduced me to the series.

I prefer the manga because of the character designs. It's also a bit more thorough than the anime. The only edge of the anime over the manga is that you can hear Maria and Shizuka-sama's voices

i've only seen the anime.
is it different story than the anime? if so, i'll start reading, but if they are both same/similar, i don't see a reason to.

the anime is surprisingly canon to the manga.... sometimes down to the frame.

Haven't read the manga, but I usually prefer anime.

I'll probably read the manga after the anime is over though (if there is no season 2 planned) because the anime will still be ongoing.

I read some of the manga and I was wondering...is it worth watching the Anime? How is the Anime. Does it stay true to the storyline? =P I'm interested in watching it after reading some of it. =P

The anime is loyal to the manga storyline... but I think you'll be disappointed with what Studio Deen did to the character designs in the anime.

for the most part the anime stays true, but they change little things that are really irritating for us manga fans and, as already yelled about, they messed around with the character designs. also the vampires powers and the effects and such are just way cornier in the anime.

I'm going to say I prefer the manga too, I haven't even watched the anime since the fourth episode because I was so disappointed with it, though I'll finish it one day.

They are very similar in story, but manga tells a whole different story completely.

Im manga's you get thought bubbles, which gives you a completely different insight than just a dialog between characters.

There is just....more to take in (and much less time to do so!)

I kinda prefer the manga over the anime. It's much more deep and emotional. The characters in the anime are so cliched and kinda corny.

Only trouble I have w/ the manga is that it's so hard to tell who's speaking... A lot of the dialogue boxes don't have any indication to a specific character.

manga > anime

the anime does bring in some cool effects that wouldn't be easily portrayed in the manga (like yuuki and her fear of walking outdoors and the red balloon. i thought that was really well done)
but on the other hand, they changed the characters too much. too much drama and pauses that was definitely not in the manga and made it seem too slow.

this is a perfect example of adaptation decay.

nevertheless, it was still cool to see an anime adaptation. but that doesn't mean that it's in any way better than the manga.

the anime's terrible.. the story's just stupid to me, it just comes off that way.

it just feels they're tyirng to be cool, in other words it's not. if it was then it'd actually be good.

some of it feels so fangirl... like only way you'd enjoy this is if you're a fan girl. ie any scene with yuki + white hair emo guy .

as for manga i only seen the art which is so much better than the animation for this series which looks like crap.

i'm just curious if trhe manga actually exxecuted the story in a way that doesn't come off stupid.

The manga becouse I hated the anime, mostly becouse of the charater design and i didn't think the voice actors really fit the parts. They all so made Kaname seem more inportant then Zero the begining and put him in way to much, if you have read the manga then you will know that about the first half of the manga focases more on Zero then it switches to Kaname. I also have a feeling that there are going to start moving the story line around more becouse in the last episode the part where :Spoiler: Zero drinks Kanames blood never happend in a dungen but in the moon dorms after the had a fight. Another thing is that I thuoght that the special effects were really corny, especial the red glowing eyes.

As much as I love both so much, I have to go with the manga. This might be because I read it first, instead of watching it first.

i too read the manga before watching the anime, but since i've watched/read both the stories kind of mesh in my mind (since i viewed the anime as a supplement to the manga) and therefore, i liked them both. sure, there are some parts i wished the anime covered better, but frankly, i'm going to dissent from the shared POV here and go with ANIME.

i mean, yeah, the manga is good, but animation conveys something drawings never can. hearing the characters voiced, watching them move, the music; animation has more mood and feeling and atmosphere, something ten times harder to do on paper. even if it means sacrificing bits of the plot...

and i don't think the art is nearly as bad as most of the people bashing it. and while i agree that the red glowing eyes thing is pretty corny, it does have a purpose (pointing out when vampire instincts are coming on).

I prefer the manga over the anime. The anime is pretty true to the manga storyline, but something that really annoys me is that they make Kaname seem evil and manipulative when he really isn't.

I actually think most people here just judge it to a standard that's too high. The anime, as a standalone is a pretty decent piece of work. Of course, manga fans will be frothing in the mouth because of details like the animation and changes in how events are handled to adjust to the restrictions imposed on them(hello, anime adaptations have to subject to the constraints of a limited amount of episodes and the fact they don't even know if they will have a chance to expand with future seasons). I realize it's human nature to compare, but you should all try to limit it and take things for what they are.
