There it goes... hmm....

.......what should I say, eh...
Since I didn't read the original novels, dunno how it would have ended originally (though the novels are still being written AFAIK?)
it was nice in its own way, it's a happy ending! :P

So it's Murasaki X Shinkurou after all!! :D

Possibility for a second season? who knows. :P

Sad to see Kure-Nai go. Good episode, and probably the best possible ending. All I can say is finally he whips out the arm blade. Took you long enough, pal.

Best of season in my opinion. As for sequel, don't count on it.

Now to watch the entire series marathon style.

A fine ending, although the production values may have been subpar. Let's what it will look like on DVD.

What makes you think so? The final situation is reasonably similar to the novel. They could go on to "adapt" volume 2.

Brains Base just doesn't seem to make sequels. And another studio would mangle it like Artland did to Gunslinger Girl -Il Teatrino-.

Day dreaming them walking off into the sunset screams finality. It's done. 12 or 13 episode series are normal in anime. Great series like Kure-Nai should be left as is.

i won't say it's bad, it's good, but hmm... something missing? maybe just me

but hey, everything solved, murasaki made up with her dad and walking into the sunset was awesome. but i do hope they make a second season, afterall the novel haven't ended so there must be something more?

Good ending IMO. Id like a sequel or maybe a OVA or two but really dunno if that would be better ending, i just would like to see more of what happened after the events with Murasaki then ending just at of end of what happened.

Yep.

By far the best anime I've seen in the last couple of years, it was just perfect from animation and art to direction and scriptwriting. Masterpiece, 10/10.

*_* it was starting to become normal...

...then a carchase with a Maserati and Mercedes Benz ruined it all.
"okay lets drive through the house"
"oh crap theres ppl ahead! [slambrakes]"
and apparently some partitions can withstand a car impact and some cant.
...Where was all the trees? I did like how Benika was blipping (heal toe) to make a sharp turn into the house.

Of course, his shounen "resolve" has made him much more powerful than last episode :(
Whats up with that dude's paranoid look? I laughed so hard :(

...仕方がない

theres 2 ways to watch this anime... serious or normal.
If you watch this seriously like i did, you'll find way to many inconsistencies and plot holes to enjoy it. 3/10
If you watch it like a normal anime with an open mind to the crazy and surreal than you'll like it. 10/10
I'd like to write a review but i know how many haters would hate my score of 5.
Dont get me wrong, the drama was great, but the action is something just too silly to comprehend considering how serious the drama half of it was.

Very good conclusion to the series. Still, I'm reluctant whether to give 9/10 overall score for the series. Some areas were lacking and production values were inconsistent.

I'm kinda mad we didn't get to see why was Lin after Benika and Yayoi so much.

I'm satisfied with that ending. As nice as it'd have been to see Shinkuro shank some bitches, I think it's for the better that he didn't slaughter Murasaki's family in front of her. I'm happy giving it a nine. Not really let down at all. Solid series the whole way through (and musical ep was epic.)

I thoroughly enjoyed the series. There were some brilliant moments. A few where the action animation was awesome. But mostly, quite a few times where the dialog was the main attraction.

There is no deigning that major elements of the storyline were eliminated or greatly compressed to fit the one kuuru format. I think the storyline really suffered because of that.

However, I still just plain enjoyed it enough to give it an 8 on my scale, which is high for me.

I'm pretty disappointed in the ending to this series. The beginning was amazing - great characters, great pacing, a real sense of Something looming. I couldn't get enough. Best anime of the season, I thought.

But after the Big Reveal, this show went right downhill. The good dialogue and characterization just stopped. Nobody seemed concerned about what was going on in the Inner Sanctuary, just that Murasaki wouldn't be having fun. People were injured badly and then suddenly magically healed. The Kuhouin fighters "who would certainly kill everyone" were bested in about two seconds. Worst of all, it fell into that horrible anime pitfall of spewing out crap and trying to pass it off as deep and meaningful.

"I'm seven years old and I'm going to change my crazy family from the inside!"
"I'm an old man who's been trapping women in my estate for years because that's what tradition dictated, but now that someone has mentioned the name of a woman I once kind of loved (a woman I was probably related to, who was fulfilling her familial role by being forced to have sex with me) I've decided to completely change my outlook on everything!"
"I'm a high school kid who doesn't know crap about crap, but as long as I think Murasaki will have fun, I'm OK with whatever!"

Give me a frigging break.

6/10 overall.

I seriously couldnt believe this guy's behaviour and dialogue. Like at one point in the beginning of the episode, he's eating bread and going "hmm, tasty."

THE GIRL YOU LOVE IS STUCK IN A ROOM AND HER BROTHER WANTS IT THAT WAY, EVERYONE AROUND YOU IS DYING AND YOU'RE ENJOYING BREAD WITH A BORED NONCHALANT VOICE?

Even the writer just gave up pretending he was writing anything worthwhile. *insert's random car chase scene for no reason other than to waste time*

Yayoi and Shinkurou fighting with the same style at the same time was great to watch. :P

Well it wasn't like Murasaki was going anywhere, plus he probably wasn't expecting Benika and Yayoi to come back and help him. I thought the part with him eating the bread was funny -- I could imagine him sneaking around the house all MGS style.

ITT we can't handle a little drama in our moe loli shows.

Seriously though, of course the stuff that happened in this show would never happen in real life, but guess what, that's why it is anime!!!! Also, I highly doubt they were just doing it so Murasaki could have fun as opposed to saving her since living in a room for your entire life sounds like a pretty horrible existence. As for the head of the family, yeah, people change and I'm sure this is the first time the family has really been challenged to change thier ways and it made him finally see the light. Is it a little off the wall and ridiculous? Yeah, it is! But, it's still a very well done drama story.

But either way, I thought this show was masterfully written and it dabbled in so many different styles, while not seeming obvious or obnoxious about it. When it was in it's slice of life phase it was pretty much better than everything in that genre. It also did a good job in the random insanity genre as the musical episode was a total blast. Then finally, I thought it did a very good job when it got to the drama phase since the characters were so well developed and they helped display the emotion 10 fold. The story was NOT a joke as I thought it was very well done and while some parts were a little crazy, it certainly didn't take away from the enjoyment at all. The ending was also great and it really showed how mature Murasaki was since she made the right decision, but I guess a child showing maturity should be considered a negative for a show, meh.

This show is a 9/10 and is the best show of the year so far.

i think so too. it WAS a good ending but yeah it somehow lacked closure on some parts? something like that. like shinkurou and houzuki's relationship compared to murasaki's? hmm or even with the glasses girl(forgot her name)...etc etc. still, it was a good end and even if it was a dialogue driven show, i still enjoyed it @_@

the ending dissapointed me since I was expecting a lot.

the reason I didnt like it is because the anime gave me the idea that the kuhoins were like the invincible/strong/etc and in this ep. they got defeated so easily by 3 people -_-
I also found the lack of security questionable, but I guess they were all on a holiday~

overall, I love this anime because of the charactes, the conversations, the pacing;; but imo the ending was unrealistic.
8/10 for me

Yeah right. So in anime everything is great and justifiable just because, well, guess what - it's anime not real? Lol.

If I'm watching quite realistic drama anime, I'm watching it throughout 8 episodes, and then - pufff!- it suddenly goes more and more nonsensical, then sorry but there is no way I can excuse something like that.
The final episode mess is a direct consequence of previous scenario failures. That's why this episode didn't have big chance to be good, and - no surprise here - it wasn't.
Final score: 5/10 - disappointments hurts, and till now it's the biggest one of the year.

I thought the ending was done pretty well. However I have to agree there was something missing and for me it was Shinkurou not bringing Murasaki back to see all their friends. But then again I liked the dream with Shinkurou and Murasaki holding hands. It kind of foreshadows a possible future of them hooking up.

The part where he's grabbing and eating some bread, felt like a "last supper" type thing to me. He was eating because he was hungry and because it may end up being his last meal.

The one thing I was disappointed in was the one thing I was most looking forward to and that was the arm blade fight scene. Sure it was good but the animation quality for that one scene dropped dramatically. The expressions on Shinkurou's face didn't match with what he was doing lol. It was like someone else was controlling his body and he was in total shock. Kind of killed the mood for me.

I ended up giving this an 8/10. The show was good but not the best. The beginning was slow for me. If their was a bit more action I probably would have given it a higher score.

I am not really sure about the whole ending.

I thought the reason Shinkuro let him self get beat up again and again was becuase he didn't want to use the "arm blade", but now we find out he didn't even need it to kick ass? So what the hell was he waiting for all this time??? Well, at least he beat down that stupid perverted brother, although I would have like to see him get gutted like a fish after all his shit.

For the rest of the ending, maybe I was just expecting a "MxS happily ever after ending", but this just left me unsatisfied. The father's change of heart just didn't seem plausable, and as far as I can see Murasaki's brother is still waiting to drag her off to bed whether she is willing or not. And what about that old man? He's still unrepentant, right? I sure as hell wouldn't have left a little girl with those twisted peverts, no mater what the father said.

Anyway, I do think the series started our really strong but then started to lose steam in the last few episodes. It started out as a 9, but by the end I would have to give it about 7 so I guess overall it gets an 8 out of 10.

Oh, one more thing... "Because its forbidden to park in the Inner Sanctuary?" Best line in the whole series!

Maybe it's not the ending I expected, but I prefer it that way. People I wanted to see killed that didn't die, Murasaki's final decision, closure with the support characters... none of these happened as I wanted them to. But I think this was better.
9/10 from me.
There was a lot that I felt was left undeveloped, stuff that could have been fit into a 24-episode series, and had it done so successfully it would have received that single extra point. However, I am far from unsatisfied.

Personally, I almost hope there is no second season. I know others disagree, but I think this ending was beautiful. Perhaps someday I will get to read the novel, or maybe the manga will stretch into the future, but a second season, could, I feel, somehow taint this series, and it would certainly change the feeling of the ending. That would be a sad thing, indeed.

So the episode where the underworld kingpin lady sends her 17 year old high school enforcer out to deal with a mafia group and he deflects bullets with a giant bone he had inplanted that comes out from his arm is included in the "quite realistic drama", but the last few episodes aren't? I'm confused.

Also as for how well the ending fit or how realistic it is, I thought it fit the mood of the show and made sense. Throughout you had a show with a theme where people try to solve problems on their own and use their own strength and that's exactly what Murasaki decides to do so it falls right in line.

Also a few people have commented on the father all the sudden just decides to change his outlook were watching this show correct? The show has been hinting the entire time how his views on the family are changing and how he's not like everyone else. The show has been implying that he's been second guessing everything and than something major happens like this and it's the final push for him. Seemed like a normal build up.

Along the lines of the car chase scene, people getting healed and all the sudden winning fights. None of them seemed to be these absurd crazy things that perhaps some others felt they were.

Very good series, good ending, I'm probably going to give it right about a 7 out of 10 and it's been my favorite series of the year so far.

Very dodgy and very cheesy anime. Guessing most people are rating this anime on the Murasaki appeal alone, but even a nicely designed loli such as herself cannot stand in the way of my criticism.

The whole premise of an evil sanctuary was lame, everyone seemingly knowing and well versed in hand to hand combat (including the guards at inner sanctuary whom for some reason despite how important the place they're protecting was didn't carry anything like a firearm or taser).

The emo teenager wishing to be stronger was painful, the forced sad moments annoyed me and finally the unimpressive and emotionless voice acting was not to my taste.

Had potential

5/10

I try not to bring in 'realism' to enjoy anime nowadays , in fact this is one of the best anime I've seen. 12 episodes are enough though, don't think I will watch more of it ( I think 20+ episodes = draggy) . Maybe I should consider to read the manga.

The problem is when an anime asks the viewer to take it seriously, but then takes a dump on its own story by being unrealistic to a ridiculous degree. Like Kure-nai.

Just imagine how awesome the story would have been if Kurenai just found Murasaki wandering the streets by herself and took her in, and raised her, and years go by as we see them develop a father/daughter bond, and we never find out how she ended up homeless, just that she has the traits of a posh girl.

^ that paragraph, even though its currently full of plot holes, is still a billion times better than what we got.
"I'm starting to think mal is run by Xinil generating electricity on a bicycle." - idklol
