I feel like the manhwa was cancelled and the author didn't have time to tie it all together. Besides the abrupt cut off, the pacing of the story felt really nice.
It's truly a shame because I liked the story overall, but that ending just ruins the experience. I want to believe it was because the story was cut short, as mentioned in the comments above, and not something intentional.
