I saw it had a lot of potential from ep1, and so glad that the adaption is taking advantage of the set up instead of totally ignoring it.

My 2nd favourite after Fate/Zero at the moment, which is a surprise since I wasn't really giving it much credit before this season starts.

After 6 episodes I'm sitting around at 6-7/10 at the moment. This anime takes an approach that I have never seen in anime before, but instead of being different and amazing; its confusing and annoying.

The character development is odd because they seem to have focused (over the first 6 EP) on developing everyone but the main characters. All we know about the main character is that he is loved by everyone, hes a perv, and he loves Horizon. That's literally it. However, thye did go out of their way to introduce easily one of the biggest casts i've ever seen in an anime. Its so many characters and a few of them are so similar(and none really stand out) that it confuses the story for me. I see a character and I have to remind myself who is who...The anime of course has told me, but they just get jumbled together with the other characters OVERALL 5/10

Story
I'm a bit lost as to some parts of this story. This anime doesn't use typical plot devices and because the character development is all over the place it leads to real confusion...I had NO IDEA what was going on till episode 5. And whats worse is that once you learn of whats happening, you feel as though someone should provide some justification...yet you're only given weak excuses. Characters die for no reason, characters act with no justification, its generally madness going on. As I said before, this coupled with poor character development makes for a confusing story. Its as if there was an OVA that came out prior to the anime that explained the setting, gave character backgrounds, and developed the huge holes in the story line...but it never got released. Its just hard to deal with. I see the potential in this anime, I see the vision, even at this point I have high expectation for this anime; however, at this point, this anime ranges from skitzo insane action, to fanservice, to flat out boring. Its trying to fill every gap and in doing so has succeeded at nothing.
OVERALL 6/10

Design
It does look good. The action is some of the best I've seen. The boobs are huge, the action is intense. I have no real hatred of any of the voice acting. My only concern come with character design. Some of the characters look similar....That combined with the MASSIVE roster, and jumbled story line = I don't know who's who sometimes. This might just be me though. Other than that I gotta give props in the design aspect. This is a beautiful anime to watch. One of the best of the season..
OVERALL 9/10

So I guess this averages out to about a 6.5 for me so far. However, looking forward, this is one of the anime out there where I truly don't know how this is going to play out. I don't even have a clue other than expecting Toori to get Horizon. That is heavily due the the pacing and development. This story has me both confused and captivated. I'm distanced and drawn to Toori as I expect good things from him and I want to know more about what he's capable of and why the others love him so much. So yeah, even though I rate this series Low at this point...it could easily end up being a 9 if the story plays out properly. Its kinda like watching inception. In the beginning you're like WTF....but when it ends you're like "WOW AWESOME" I have high hopes for this anime

I'm sorry for the late reply, but there is another anime that takes the same approach, and it's honestly even more confusing at first.

It's called Baccano.
They even asked this question
"Who's the main character of Baccano?"
"When did the story starts?"
And of course the liberal use of jumping forward and backwards through the whole timeline.

If people liked Baccano, why can't they like Horizon.

because it's not AMERICAN!

Horizon has a lot more to digest through with the whole new world setting instead of just 1930 america with occasional super human. If you can get into the world, then you will enjoy it. If not, then you are just another outcast who are jealous with all the fun the rest of the class is having.
