To be a cook you must have honor! Honor and... these 6 traits.

KNOWLEDGE

In order to cook, you should know what you want to cook, how to prepare it, and how to cook it right. Either microwaving some pizza rolls, preparing a 3 course dinner, or even boiling water you have to have the know-how.

Know what tools you need for each situation. Have an idea of every kind of cooking method to any ingredient given, such as garnish, flavor, or even decoration. Also it's always a plus to know certain short-cuts to preparing and cooking. It may not always be by the book, but if it works the way you want to it pays off.

Either in a classroom, on an online video, or even in the workplace there is no limit to what you can learn.

SKILL

Classes, videos, or observation alone doesn't make anyone a pro. Just like everything else in life, you have to practice. Even if you have a recipe in front of you telling you step by step what to do, if you were to compare to someone elses exact dish from the exact recipe you may find some differences, which may give you an idea what either your dish may be missing or what the other dish may have wrong.

When you know how to do it correctly, you can put your own style to it. That's where the fun really begins.

TASTE

Even with all the knowledge and skill in the world, if you can't make it taste right, then it's a problem. Not only for yourself or anyone else you try to cook for. For example, you may be one of the best bakers that you know method-wise. Trying something different though, like a rice cracker inside of a baked bun, may not be a popular choice to others, which may result in a failure.

It's important to be confident in what you think tastes good. It's probably the most important thing in cooking, smell and touch being next in line. The more confident in the taste of your own food, the more likely that others will like it too.

JUDGEMENT

Deciding how you're going to prepare everything is just as important as preparing itself. Have a plan and follow through with it. Second guessing yourself can leave you going in circles and wasting time, which could lead to disaster if you're in the middle of a delicate process.

DEDICATION and PRIDE

All in all, know that you're creating something that used to be a bunch of little things, and show it off in a humble manner. Presentation of yourself is important in a sense as well. If you can keep yourself spotless and clean from grease popping, sauces bubbling, blood from meats, and such stain hazards in the kitchen then you know you have no problem going through anything in the kitchen. Making it look good while looking good doing it is always nice. There are a lot of people who wished they could cook. Being a person who actually knows though gives a good feeling.

Remember, apperently you ladies would make a good bride just by knowing how to cook. I guess for guys it makes you like a more perfect combat butler...? Or whatever... It's just an awesome thing to know how to do to get you through your life. May as well be awesome, right? I mean, more than you are now of course... heh.
