Is anyone getting the slim? I sold my old 360 this morning and i'm getting my slim in 2 weeks when my paycheck comes in.

Edit: Changed the title because spartan112g found the official name. "Xbox 360 S"

I think this new XBOX 360 'slim' is a complete FAIL!!!
why did they make it smaller and still did not integrate the POWER SUPLY????!!!!!
and power supply looks even bigger now, doesn't it!
why not make the 'slim' the same size as old 360 but INCLUDE the POWER SUPPLY!!!!!!

Microsoft you have failed us once again

Some of your complaints don't make sense. They don't integrate the power supply because it would cause the system to overheat on a much higher basis. Red Rings would happen within weeks.

The Gamecube and PS2 slim don't have integrated PSU's, and I don't see anyone complaing about them. The new power supply is actually smaller, not larger.

To be honest, my issue is with making it smaller, in itself. 360's have horrible heating issues, and I worry about the thinner ones. Also, they've changed how the hard drive is incorperated, which I dislike. Before, if I wanted to go to a friends, I could just pop my drive off, now it seems to be a bit of a hassle to get to the drive. Also, they're still using their own hardware for drives, where as I could just upgrade my PS3 drive if I wanted to, I still can't with the 360.

They've removed the three year warranty from the new 360's, too. The older ones have three years past the purchase date for issues such as the Red Ring and E74 errors, in addition to the standard warranty. The new ones just have the standard one year warranty.

It is nice to see WiFi integrated, though. Too bad I bought that stupid WiFi adapter years ago.

All in all, not worth it. If the system is much more stable, and doesn't overheat as much, then it just seems too little too late. They should have worked harder and released this console years ago, instead of the original 360. Maybe then I wouldn't go through a console a year.

I might get one when my current console dies. It's starting to show E74 signs. I am not happy about this, either.

I totally agree with you. It does look beautiful and all but I'm worried about the design. It's smaller and no 3 year warranty. It seems they fixed it but casual gamers will buy this version of the console. This is not a Wii you can't leave it all day turned on and you can't let it drop or even move when there' s a disc on the xbox. It's going to break. If this happens to casual gamers, it's going to make bad news for Microsoft. They have to step it up. I personally haven't experinced any RROD with my old xbox( 1year and 1/2) and a few months ago I bought the final fantasy bundle and gave my old one to my bf. With two xbx near me, I don't plan to buy one soon. I'll wait to hear if it really is a sucess and no problems will occur. Also, wait for a cheap bundle with Kinect.

Ohh, what do you guys think about Kinect?

I see potential and the technology works compared to other consoles. The games I would consider would be the animal game and your shape but not 60 dollars for them like gamestop posted a few days ago maybe 20-25 no more. Needs hardcore games. We'll see.

About the 3 year warranty changing to a 1 year warranty, that seems to me that Microsoft is saying that they have confidence in whatever changes they've made to prevent it from RRODing as much. I don't really have any experience with RRODs though, i've had my 20gb pro for 3 years and it's fine.

Eh, we'll see. Right now i'll be preordering the Sony Move because they actually have good looking games that cater to more than just casuals. Plus, they're selling Move games for $40 each because they know people don't want to pay full price for a motion controlled game.

Kinect has potential, but all they showed at E3 were casual games. I'll wait for them to release a price and more games, but until then i'm not sold. The move sold me as soon as they showed "Sorcery".

I will also be getting the Move because of "Sorcery". I'm still not sold on Kinect.

You're stupid. You should read stuff about it before spouting nonsense like an idiot.

I keep my 360 on all day and nothing has happened yet. :)

so i am a idiot for saying what i think? u are a idiot fanboy
what nonsense did I spout? I said it has a external power supply and it has!!!
if it hasnt then show me the proof!!!

The new xbox may look nice and has the wifi at last but the power supply is a big NO NO
U know not everyone has the space or the kind of furniture to hide that thing, it bothers me cos i would like to have my xbox in the living room right next to the ps3 and play games on my 37" tv

That's Gamestop's estimated price..MS hasn't released a price yet. But there's no way i'm buying it if it's $150.

yeah i know
i think its gonna be more like 118$, something similar to Move
but thats still a bit overboard

anyway i hope MOVE and KINECT wont be much success, I hope they start improving the VR technology
VR is the future, but then again they could use the M and K as stepping stones for the better future

i will be keeping my old 360, just upgraded it with the 250G HD last month, i don't have wireless internet and Kinect isn't goin to be a day one buy anyway, so there is no point to getting the new model atm. i will admit though, the thing is damn sexy, i like the new look. i wonder if the faceplate is interchangeable like the old model...

Here's an article from Gamespot:

http://e3.gamespot.com/story/6266498/xbox-360-slim-cant-red-ring-by-design

It appears the xbox 360 s does not have red LEDs.

"According to a spec sheet obtained by gaming blog Joystiq, the new console has only green LEDs in the ring on its front. "

"How the new console will indicate failure is unclear. When contacted by GameSpot, Microsoft representatives tacitly confirmed the change with the following official statement: "The new console’s ring of light has been redesigned with the rest of the console and uses a different illustration that our customer service team will be able to troubleshoot for you. If customers experience any issues with Xbox 360 250GB they should contact customer service at http://www.xbox.com/support or 1-800-4MY-Xbox." "

So, it seems Microsoft did not deny that the new xbox is RROD free. It's kinda shady if something happens to the console you wouldn't know exactly what's wrong. :S

I'll don't think I'll be buying the new system unless the one I currently have breaks down. I just bought the my new system back during Christmas which is the CoD: Modern Warfare 2 Console. I hope to keep this console until Xbox releases their next generation system.

No, I did read and hear that the new xbox is kinect ready meaning plug and play. The old one needs an update and it does not have the plug to put the camera. However, there will be a way to use it on the old one, I think is usb not sure.

well considering it is quieter then any orevious model, you won't have to buy/use an adapter for kinect and built in wireless this machine wins all day long for me, i mean buy those things separate it would cost more so screw it, i will take the loss of being able to remove the hard drive for the rest
