I originally read this in 2011, and barely remember the serialized manga since I've put it on hold on Chapter 48 for years after scanlation dropped it,
but I do remember really enjoying this One-Shot and being charmed by the protagonist.
I rated it an 8/10, but now I'm updating it to a 5/10.
It's not bad at all, it's just not particularly interesting with the supernatural aspect of descendants holding the same power of their ancestors, fightings against rival clans as samurai of sorts.
I do still enjoy the retro comedy of a cute male being mistaken as a girl and doing kabuki theater where in that time, roles were all played by male, so he crossdresses and plays the role of women. His acting and/or beauty is also very popular to the crowd compared to the rest of his drama troupe.
The dynamic of his father disrespecting him as a man and being the cause of enjoying to see his cute son as a girl is funny as well.
The plot is fairly basic. The rival clan plans on killing all of the clans or whatever, comes across our protagonist who's a secret founder descendant and can use the powers as well, defeats the guy while saving his female friend before he heads to his first male role, even though he still looks cute dressed as his character.
Art-wise, the depiction is very flawed in properly displaying his feminity since he doesn't really look naturally feminine from this type of art design, but that gets fixed in the manga.
If I remember right, I'm glad the manga removed that supernatural action and just focused on theater and whatever else- romance and friendship, I think. |
