The title of the movie

What does "Jo" mean in the title? I'm pretty sure that this is not the title I remember; I believe it's something like "1:0" or something.
I watched the original Eva 5 years ago and now im watching the rebuilds.

You’re right, the English title changed it and is 1.0

In Japanese, “Jo”, or “序” can mean opening or introduction. But it’s a kanji that can also be read as opening and beginning.

I think it’s meant to be named after the Jo-ha-kyū, in which Jo does indeed mean opening. That’s about all I know regarding that though.

They recently changed the default MAL titles for the Rebuild films to their native Japanese versions. The default titles had been the English ones for years for some reason.

Jo is a reference to the popular anime "Jojo's bizarre adventure". the editors are enthusiastic about jojo and wanted to put a reference to here as a joke
