Why do people say it’s fine when it’s not fine, it’s great. I love the comedy in this show, but why do people brush it off when it’s so good. To be fair, I am watching the dub so maybe that has something to do with it, but I actually enjoy watching it.

Ecchi scares away most casuals and female audience. Also, the male lead is not a full on pretty boy though I like his looks.

Mal score=mass appeal to all demographics

Many anime aim for a niche demographic instead.

I love the ecchi which is why I picked up this anime.

i think it's because of the production quality, although i like it, some scenes feel kinda off imo and the op makes it very repetitive with mona's introduction.

other than that romance has become very popular so people feel it's very generic.

Well, for most people, myself included, it's cause of Mona. She's basically an annoying slut and makes things very awkward. I am only sticking around to see more of my best girl Minami Shirahama plus as a manga reader, my love for this story decreased since it's slowly becoming Rent A Whatever 3.0.
I'll still watch the anime (dub) ofc since some of my fav VAs are voicing the characters. The manga? Still reading cause of the cute girls and good art.
Another reason most people don't like it is cause Medaka is being charmed by Mona's cuteness easily which is a huge turn off for them. They wanted him to be the same but not get phased by her cuteness and charms until later in the story, you dig? That's how I felt about a year ago as well but I'm used to it all already.

I liked it when it was just Mona and Medaka. In the manga, I quit caring as much when the rest of the harem was introduced. I'm assuming the same will happen with the show.

People watching a genre they know they don’t enjoy, rating it low, then leaving without an explanation.
That’s why you literally can’t trust MAL scores, people on here refuse to acknowledge that not everything has to appeal to them.

It’s not terrible (as of now) but it’s definitely due to Kawai’s antics. I still plan on finishing up this anime though. I’m waiting for the next episode with Shounan.

The reasons I gave it three stars were because

1. Mona is seriously irritating. Who in their right mind would just pull out their buns to a classmate just because she wants him to like her? It's borderline slutty honestly. There are times she does show regret or shame for showing too much skin so it's a bit bearable. She would probably go defiling herself just because a guy doesn't fawn over her like the rest of her class and the people around her

2. The guys of the classroom are degenerates beyond help. The two guys who do rebuke Medaka only do so because he doesn't treat Mona nicely.

Also the opening is bad.

the anime is bad, if you think it's good you don't know what a good romance anime is. 6/10 at max. There is no reason to put it higher other than personal bias or if you are a gooner that enjoys ecchi and does not care about natural interactions.

Honestly until now I think this is just a mid anime, theres way better anime than this, even in the same genre. Also I cant like Mona, shes annoying and always thinks shes the queen bee... I hate that kind of person. As for Kuroiwa, I like him, sure I know he is falling for Mona's appeal, but he has a really good self control

Maybe this will be a hot take but i have a some

considering how i view the manga they took the wrong approach in choosing the art style for the anime, the reason we can believe that mona is the “queen bee” is if they make the world not as colorful as they make it out to be. A good example is kokomi from saiki k, the art for the show is very muted as in wont make you reduce the brightness of your screen. But when they draw kokomi is very detailed and accompanied the character emotions well, i believe if they do a sakamoto days or spy x family art it would be better (but what do i know🤷‍♂️)

Secondly is the limited animation and direction , its giving me the angel next door vibe as in its very clunky and it seems they failed to fill in the gaps between adapted panel which make the punchline or the emotional moments felt off.

Overall it’s still worth watching as the character development is really good imo

i think "most of the audience" fits better for this. i'm a girl myself and i really don't mind H when it's good. while i don't really like it when it's way too much like in HOTD, this anime barely feels like H at all

It is penalized for being basically ecchi, but the biggest issue is the below average animation. "Manga panels with colors" are almost always rated below 7.00, nothing unusual here.

It reminds of Teruhashi from Saiki K mixed with B Gata H Kei but less fun. This one is harder for me to get into since the male lead has the personality of a wet blanket in the anime so far.

For me it dropped in value as soon as MC's reasons were revealed as religious. Also last EP where everybody pressures MC to be nice to her while she behaves like whore whole time, it's just annoying.

So instead of cool MC who will deny girl who had everything until then because of her looks and has to change gradually if she wants to interact with MC, we have MC who can barely hold it together and has to calm his mind because religion... Bleh.

I did not even know this was associated with crunchyroll directly. Given the recent news that is might be a possibility (though I would not consider Kuroiwa woke at all). I notice mass review bombing more nowadays with multiple anime this and last season.

This series doesn’t really do it’s own genre well. The jokes don’t land and are annoying, the romance is repetitive and you know that there will be little to no progression with it in Season 2 and I heard from manga readers that it gets really bad later on in the manga with certain arcs. The MC is boring as hell and the main girl isn’t even that good compared to other “waifu” shows.

Basic cookie cutter “romance” show.

The low rating is partly due to the overall quality of the episodes direction. The repetitive introduction of Mona waking up every day has already become tiresome, and moments like the ending of episode 3 also contribute to this negative evaluation. Additionally, viewers who enjoy animes with more elaborate plots may find this work frustrating, as its premise is quite simple, the characters follow clichéd archetypes, and the main focus is on Mona teasing the protagonist.
