He was never really a "bad guy". He simply offered to take Miyo under his care, so she would be safe from the people who would want to kidnap her and stuff and seemed quite antagonistic because he directly claimed Kudo will not be able to guarantee her safety.
He kinda acted like a dick and it was pretty obvious that he cares more about Mio's power rather than Mio herself, but he is still an ally.

No anime -- or manga -- character is 100% good or bad. Good characters can do bad things and vice versa.

@leonardobarba don't overcomplicate stuff, pls

But answering the question: He actually didn't mean harm to her, but the way his family (technically her family as well) approached and acted upon protecting Miyo was a little too much TBF. Kudo is capable enough

@ricardopetrere Arata and the Usubas did a single good deed for Miyo -- they fueled her resolve to return to the man she chose to be her husband, Kiyoka.

I know I kept repeating this, it's not that the I hate the show but rather my beef is with the usubas themselves, I will always see them as bunch of hypocrites who haven't done a thing when miyo suffers under saimoris, kiyoka already rescue her so they lose all the justification for taking her away, imo they shouldn't even have attempted to challenge kiyoka into duel since they don't have rights for miyo.

It's not up to arata wether or not let kiyoka take miyo away and I seriously want to punch arata for his misplaced rightiousness

And omg I seriously just want to hang the usuba grandpa, for having admited that he only wanted to protect miyo after awakening her ability.

And *sigh* do I even need to say about this psycho naoshi guy?

I just hope that there will be no more villain who tries to take miyo away under the reason of wanting to protect her, it just feel pretentious way to introduce a confict to a series. It doesn't matter if they're just evil trying to take miyo for personal gain just please dont justify that they are doing this for her sake.
